3 or four, I don't remember. I hate selling. I feel so guilty afterwards. I don't mind selling Blu Rays for some reason though. So, on the subject of signed books ... check this out ..Here's a question - worth $2500? I can get a real nice Hulk #181 for that ...
I should have bought it when it was $1,500.
Sweet book, Cheryl.
So you are a watcher??? I expect I won't have many at that price.
Yes it is a sweet book - and Jerel sold it to me about 2 years ago - YES, he actually SOLD me a book. Can you believe it?
I don't know if we got to three before we started TRADING blues for yellows. And then once the "I have something you don't have but need" started, it was all over. I'm still looking for that elusive #2 gem mint. One day.....

All this great talk about such a prize. Well, i felt jealous, and just went to ebay a plopped a buck fitee on a Locke & Key Special Edition Welcome to Lovecraft #1. NM+. Off to get the cert as soon as it rolls in ... see what happens when these conversations get going ... i feel the need to spend dough. Now if i could just find someone to let go of a Cursed PG #1 SS or #2 SS ... the cycle of life would be complete ...
I bought one on the boards end of last year, but I'm not ready to give it up... yet. I'll keep you in mind if I ever feel the urge.

Anyone have a direct link to it. I'm surfing on dial-up after all.
Here you go friend.

NOT RIGHT NOW....
Jerel made me change it.
Taking offers!
Hah ... so you're selling it (next time i'll look at the sellers name first .. ) . Nice. $2500 is lot of bones... that's like ... 5 cases of my 2008 vintage. Wanna trade? ... not champagne though, just very high quality red.
It's okay Matt..
It IS a lot - right now it seems like alot - but I can see it going for that later this year... easy. You can tell that I really don't wanna part with it - testing the waters. Getting people used to seeing the crazy high prices for these.
I didn't think my 9.8 would sell for $425 when it did either. You just never know who's looking and what they are willing to pay.
Fair enough and totally makes sense. I'm sure someone will pick it up! Heck i'd do it, but i've got some other... wants ... right now - just waiting for the right price. Still ... a real beauty.
Actually, I hope they don't!

Not one of my other 37 Mint to Gem Mints?
That's why I had to specify my demand.
-
And that's a #1 L&K first arc first print gem mint.
-
Looks like I lost a bet.
That will be one L&K gem mint please.

I'll give you my next born...
oh wait... that would be the impossible conception at this point in my life. Damn....

So I was thinking: what are the top 5 Locke & Key books? Put another way, what are the top 5 hottest L/K books at this moment in time?
My thoughts:
1. Locke & Key #1 Signed Edition
2. Locke & Key Welcome to Lovecraft Special Edition Variant
3. Locke & Key #1 (1st print)
4. Locke & Key Head Games #1 Signed Edition
5. Locke & Key Keys to the Kingdom #1 Signed Edition
Thoughts? Agree? Disagree?
Based on recent eBay sales only (I don't have access to GPA), I would have to say a Locke & Key #1 first print SS would be top dog (selling for $425 recently in 9.8). NOW put a Lovecraft GRADED 9.8 special edition variant up for sale, and that statement may be bumped to #2.
To reiterate:
1. L&K #1 first print SS
2. Lovecraft special edition variant
3. L&K #1 signed edition
and I really don't have an opinion of #4 and #5.
-
I meant the variant. I have a couple 9.8's available
I'd keep one raw up for sale on eBay... and get the others graded. They will be much easier to sell graded. Just my

What is a good price for a 9.8 special edition?
$30-40 for the regular cover. Variant cover is another story entirely. Considering a raw copy sold for over $200 on eBay not too long ago, I would think the price for a 9.8 should be in the $200-$250 range.
The Special Edition variant sold for $225 raw and there are two more raws up with BIN prices lower than that and they have not sold. Again, it's all luck of having a buyer in the hunt at the time you have your auction up.

What is a good price for a 9.8 special edition?
I sold one at the end of February for $36.95 to someone who was putting together a set of Locke & Key. Not a lot of demand for them right now.
-
I would be amazed if it did. Cheryl is a strict grader, so this book would have had to be perfect if this hooked a ride with her Alpha Flights to Sarasota.Every now and then we have insane moments, here's mine...L&K #1 first print starting bid $0.99
Good Luck! This includes you Mike
No way this sells for less than $100. Right?
Haha ... i lost.
Guess someone really wanted it ...
The final price was a bargain. I'm shocked this didn't go over $100.
You always take chances when you start an auction at $.99. The last time I did this, the final price was $82. I think Brian has had better luck with the $$ received for his copies on eBay lately. It all depends on who's searching eBay at the time your auction is up.

synch won it ! He got it for a little less than our earlier negotiated price, but he won it fair and square.

Really awesome to see so many people happy about the Legacy Edition Shadow Key, and sorry if I've created some confusion. Legacy Edition is going to be the header whenever a key isn't confined to a limited run: the updated Ghost, the Shadow, the upcoming Hercules Key (formerly known as the Beast Key; Joe recently renamed it.)
But, definitely, I still plan to release limited, numbered keys in the mix. I'm leaning toward making the key that the squirrels were playing with in "February" as a Maine Comic Arts Festival exclusive in May. Considering doing the owl key from "February" after that. What would people think of those keys?
Hi Israel!
I'll buy them all! These keys rock! When I saw Joe Hill last Wednesday - he was really excited to see someone with them too!
-
I don't think it is the end of the numbering of the keys. There will be future "limited" keys released and I'm sure they will be numbered, and possibly signed.
-
If you look at your Legacy Edition Ghost key, it is not numbered either because it is also not a limited production run. I believe that is why it is tagged with the word "Legacy".

Okay, then send me an offer for a buck fifty so I can get some action at least.
