  1. With Larry Stroman? Undelivered commissions, IIRC. You can see a bunch of threads on him in the Comic Art Buyer Beware group on Facebook. As I read the situation, if you buy from him at a show and he finishes the art work all is good, but don't let him take it home. If you order it by mail/email/FB/whatever, you might regret it. I have NO first hand experience and I've never met the man. I'm just summarizing what I've read and remember from the reading.
  2. Re: 1o1DOA (one-of-one Digital Original Art) I can't speak for anyone else, but my position is simple. If it's a digital drawing of a printed page, I'll buy the printed page and stop. I understand print quality and COA and artist integrity, but really the printed page in the comic is just fine by me.
  3. The yellowing is probably a stain from the glue and it's not good for the paper. You might consider getting it cleaned and restored. Free advice in the Spoiler text.
  4. @NicoV, if you ever setup a Patreon to support the site, I'll send my $ or two a month with great pleasure.
  5. Actually, I do have something one might consider art if one is in a generous mood. This is a recreation of the map of Middle Earth by Christopher and JRR Tolkien by me. It's on a poster board and this picture "de-ages" the piece. Click it to see the aged version and read more about it.
  6. You see some show up on occasion. Gene did a lot of commissions over the years. You still see many of his more complex ones on his CAF: https://www.comicartfans.com/GalleryDetail.asp?GCat=4158
  7. The boards are making me sad. I can't see any pictures. Mac OS 10.13.6 with Safari, Firefox, and Chrome.
  8. If you are asking what its market price might be, I'd suggest reading the first post on this thread. It provides tips on how to figure it out. If you are asking if that's really by Gene, I'd say no doubt about it. If you are asking if I like it, the answer is, "Yes, I do." Hope one of these is helpful.
  9. FWIW, there is a Facebook group called Steve Ditko Letters. Lots of folks don't like Facebook and I get that, but you can sign-up and view a lot of stuff without sharing anything and without "friending" anyone.
  10. I'm going with Russian hackers trying to steal the secrets to disrupt the business of comic art collecting!
  11. It's happened. Mark Landis was really good. New Yorker article: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2013/08/26/the-giveaway Felix Comic Art Interview with Mark: http://www.felixcomicart.com/podcastdetail.asp?pId=32
  12. In the many threads on paper conservation, the names that recurred the most were: Robert Dennis Gordon Christman Tracey Heft - Eclipse Paper I've also had one recommendation for each of these: Jonathan Derow - vetted for works on paper - http://www.jdconservation.com/ Jill Pratzon - amazing for works on board and canvas. HIGHLY recommended. - http://www.jillpratzon.com/ James Pascoe - https://www.jamespascoe.net/ Mark F McDermott - https://www.EarthshineStudios.com I would add that most major museums know of paper conservators. You might want to contact someone at a local museum and see if there is a conservator close to you.
  13. I have a sketchbook for Sheldon Mayer's characters, e.g., Scribbly, Sugar and Spike, Three Mouseketeers, Black Orchid, etc. I think most of the sketches are excellent, but this one is simply amazing. You can see all of them here. Sheldon and his kids Reference photo
  14. For three years, my wife and occasionally my daughters followed me to conventions. The watched to see to whom I spoke and then unknown to me came around and asked them to draw a sketch in a sketchbook for my 60th birthday. Here's my 40 Sketches for 60 Years sketchbook. Click the image to see more: I think she loves me.
  15. These are the ones that we are using. They are available at Home Depot. They have 5 settings as Eric mentioned that's a plus.
  16. FWIW, I've installed flush mount LED lights. The part that clips to the sheet rock is very thin. Above it and connected by an electrical cord is the box that has the controls and transformer. There are 3 light settings on that box (3000, 4000, 5000 lumens). We set it for the middle, but that might change. We like them a lot. I can get the brand name if you want it.
  17. The dastardly Mike Maihack, creator of the series Cleopatra in Space (books) and inspiration of the Cleopatra in Space TV show on the Peacock Network, attacked by bank account. Sorry girls, the inheritence has dropped again. Seriously, if you want a good all-ages book, I can highly recommend CiS. Check it out. When he feels like doodling, Mike writes and draws cartoons featuring Batgirl and Supergirl, a World's Finest team. For Inktober (an October inking challenge), he created a series of drawings based on the key words. Mine is called Hide. I find it really moving, the dramatic lighting and the concern on her face made this a must get. I also liked Wisp (probably my 3rd favorite) and Ominous (#2). You can see those in the Additional Images on the link to Hide. In the description, you'll find link to some of the BG/SG cartoons. Check it out. Enjoy.
  18. I'm glad she didn't wait that long! I'm already old.
  19. So, Friday was our 38th Wedding Anniversary and guess what I received as a gift? Surprise! It's comic book related art. In this case, it's another of my faux Sugar and Spike #100 themed comics. S&S never made it to issue 100, but one day DC will publish one and I will have a wonderful collection of variant covers that they can use. In this case, the artist, Charles Paul Wilson III, launched S&S into an adventure in The Dark. In the main story, the Boogeyman captured The Boy and pulled him through his closet door into The Dark, a strange world that he controls. Some of The Boy's bravest toys decided to pursue and free him. It has not been an easy journey and victory has not been achieved, but still they struggle. It appears from this cover that S&S have stumbled into The Dark by way of The Boy's closet, they must be neighbors. More disturbing, they look like they may have been touched by the Boogeyman's influence. Will our kids be able to help The Boy's toys or will they fall under the influence of the Boogeyman! 21. Jeff donated the art to the Billy Ireland Museum at The Ohio State University. There are a few published Bone pieces that are not there, e.g., the Trilogy covers, but the Bone books are all there.
