I can't believe that I forgot to mention Matthew Weldon. I first met him at Comicpalooza where he shared a booth and was selling prints of kitties in different costumes. Not long after he worked on Plus Ultra from Overground Comics. More recently, he's been drawing Punchline from Antarctic Press.
I greatly enjoy his work and his personality. Here are a couple of pieces.
The Harry Potter Kitty (Kitty Potter) my daughter commissioned from him.
Me vs. Plus+Ultra (I lose) - Secret Santa gift!
Hulk came to my 60th b'day party!
Two pages from Plus+Ultra. He's out of costume and is dark haired. The other woman thinks she can't wear the costume. She feels differently.
Punchline is a really good comic, but I don't have any art from it. Check it out.

Great story Alex,
I wonder what he might have done with Calvin and Hobbes for $200!

If he were on Jeopardy and the answer was "Sheldon Mayer's greatest creations," he'd lose.

I'm sure it would have been excellent and a better fit for his style.

I like Skottie's work a lot. I own two minor pieces - a Sugar and Spike sketch and a page from an OZ book.
The former is a con sketch (I rolled doubles on the first try), but Scottie had never heard of S&S (heathen!
) so it's very off model. The latter I bought because I liked the way he used digital and physical on the page. Dorothy is standing in front of a map that was added to the page. I mention this just to show that I do like his work.
All of that said, I don't bet on the come with comic art work. If I don't like it, I don't buy it. I think that on the whole betting on art as an investment is a bad idea. There are, of course, cases where money is made, but guessing who will last? I can't do that.- Rick2you2, Keys_Collector, Blastaar and 2 others

Chris Killackey has a full story up on CAF. Good way to see the OA and have a read.
For myself, I picked up a couple of strips during the course of last year. Amazing work and nice to see a British artist making a big impact on your side of the pond.
I hadn't heard of the strip until Roger Clark started selling on eBay. My favorite is this one in Aaron N's gallery.
It's just too creepy for words. Aaron has a number of excellent strips in his David Wright gallery.

There's a place in Houston called HPI (originally, Houston Photo Imaging) that can scan giant size stuff at extreme resolution for about $50. They will make a DVD or put the scan on your USB stick. I find it much more convenient to do my large scans there than to own a scanner bigger than my 11x17 HP Officejet 7612. I suspect similar services exist in most large towns and cities.
My Gene Colan DD & BW was scanned by them at 600 dpi and is something like 400MB as a TIF file.

Some time I eventually will get around to read it...
I'm bummed. They are missing from the Amazon Kindle store. I only bought a couple because they would always be there.

Another "newbie" whose work I really enjoy is Fiona Staples. Sadly, she's all digital.

It seems Walking Dead art might be dropping. You can see an example here.

it's pretty obvious that getting a great Kirby example is no longer considered to be a requirement for many younger collectors. Even among my age cohort, precisely zero collectors in my close circle of friends are regular Kirby collectors. Between high prices and changing tastes, I can easily see younger collectors buying, at the very least, LESS Kirby than their forebears. While this may not be widely obvious now, I think it will be as the years go by.
I'm 63. He's not on my list.
My area of interest in Kirby is very narrow:
- A Thor page set in Asgard or
- A New Gods page from The Pact or other flashback (yes, I did buy the IDW AE).
Ditto with Ditko, my area of interest is quite narrow (The Creeper).
I could afford something, but it's not a high priority.

I would go for the first option, add comments to Best of and they get copied to the permanent gallery location. Having all the previous comments might influence voters. Two pieces one posted at start of the year and one in december, the earlier post if all is equal would probably have more comments. I would lean towards making Best of more self contained.
I agree.

I don't know about the rest of you, but the change I'd like to see next is the ability to easily add a comment to the permanent piece. I can see at least two reasonable implementations:
1) Add to the Best of Entry and the CAF copies them over at the close of voting2) Add a link to the Best of Entry page to the permanent gallery location so that one click takes you there.
I miss being able to leave a comment and I know that a the receive of "Best of ..." comments I often wished they were on the permanent piece.
Any thoughts?

So, in any of your opinions, was it a better piece just pencilled, or is it better inked? I like them both, which make me useless on that subject. But, I am thinking about having him do a second commission, full figure, in a scene.
I like the inked piece best, but like them both.

[T]he selecting of my 5th piece is proving practically impossible.
The fifth one is a killer - always. I decided to spread my pieces across categories so a couple of my favorites were left off. Tough calls.

Here are my nominees for Best of 2019
Unpublished: Sketch Covers/Convention SketchesI saw one like this and all my plans to get a Daredevil Yellow from Tim vanished. When Essential Sequential offered commissions for a reasonable price for pickup at HeroesCon, it was a faster than you can blink signup. I’m thrilled with this piece. It thought it would be done before the show, but it was not. Tim worked on and finished it that weekend; hence, this category.Published: Splash Pages, PinupsI love group shots and this is a tremendous one - the JLA, the JSA, and the Kingdom Come Superman! Couldn’t believe that Spencer had it when I stumbled over it at HeroesCon. I really am thrilled with this one though I do wish the headshots were part of it.Published: Interior PagesLovely and expressive art and a good story. Check it out. I particularly like the individual faces and the expressions on Cap’n Bill’s face; he’s the cat. The colors are brilliant and don’t show as well on my scan as they do in person.
Unpublished: Sketch Covers/Convention SketchesDave nailed this piece - from the mind of a genius, we get great characters. The reference photos and some others supplied by his granddaughter, Chelle are in the Additional Images.
Published/Unpublished: CommissionsOne of my sub-themes is faux Sugar and Spike #100 Covers. The series made it to 98. DC did a 99 as a special. Surely #100 is inevitable, and they will need variant covers so I’m helping! You can see the others here.Honorable MentionPublished/Unpublished: CommissionsUniverso defeated the Legion on more than one occasion, yet, the team would find a way to victory. I’m not so sure that will happen this time. John nails the Legion everytime.Published/Unpublished: CommissionsKeith recreates one of my all-time favorite covers. Mon-El’s determination is one of his best character traits and Keith nails it. This is actually one of my must unexpected and appreciated commissions.Unpublished Published: OtherBlacksad and Andy's Kitties by Andy Price
Not much to say, it’s just funny. I picked it up at the Baltimore Comic Con 2019Published/Unpublished: CommissionsIf I’d known this Kickstarter perk was going to be this good, I’d have pledged for the larger size. Simply beautiful to my eyes.
Published/Unpublished: CommissionsSteve has a great feel for funny and I think this image pairing S&S with Sir Quimp and the dragon babies is great. Look at the expression on Quimp’s face.
Published/Unpublished: CommissionsA terrific take on my faux S&S 100 cover theme. I’m sure Supergirl was hired to babysit; I think she has it under control. J
