  1. Thanks so much for any input. Creasing on the bc doesn't extend to the pages. No surprises inside. (*edit: the white nick on Thing's chin is actually just a bit of makeup remover pad I missed after wiping it off for pictures)
  2. I'm selling this same system for $998 but with mine you get a hyperlink to this board.
  3. I'm still trying to figure out how FF 67 is a Warlock cameo and not a full blown first appearance. Makes zero sense to me.
  4. Stumbled across this at a library book sale tonight, probably doesn't count but it made me think of this thread.
  5. If you're feeling generous with your time, please and thank you for Blastaar's 1st. Couple of deep color breaks on the bottom edge fc and 1 on the right edge that look in the pic like they could be tears but aren't. The top fc edge is a bit choppy though. Small pen writing at the very top of page 1. thanks
  6. They're saying that the competition for this years Thany Awards will be fierce.
  7. Old Optimus got "missent" in the mail, thankfully tho he found his way home to me. A post by @Holzar inspired me, thanks, to grab a copy of Blyberg's Warlock cover I didn't realize I needed, and I couldn't be happier about it. 🤘
  8. My daughter started "collecting" Hot Wheels when she was two. She loves cars and trucks, and she got ahold of a couple beat up Hot Wheels my wife once stuck in my Christmas stocking & ever since she's loved them. Never bought anything old or valuable, just buy whatever's groovy at the supermarket, so I wouldn't say we're "collectors" per say, just enjoying them. Here's some pics we took a short while ago. I mostly dig the weird stuff & the mopars.
  9. Stopped by a friends house who was on his way to pick up his "weeklys", whatever that meant, but I was up for a ride. While he did his thing I looked around and grabbed a couple of impulse buys, a $1 box FF #254 and an off-the-rack WoS #76. Believe it or not, after reading that ridiculous WoS, I actually went back for more. I think it was the FF despite it being an uneventful filler issue, that kept me in the game. They're the only two books I kept when I had to sell my first collection. I can still smell the large, light, extra sweet deli coffee I spilled all over the Spidey. That's how my comic book days began, with 2 terrible books, one of which I destroyed within hours. I dare say I haven't really gotten all that much better at this.
  10. I need FF 297 on a velvet black-light poster to complete my life. And Spidey 17 has been a favorite of mine since the nanosecond I saw it on the rack.
  11. If Copper starts at '82 then, debauchery is The Thing of it.
  12. I don't think pre-Modern back covers really got the respect they deserved as part of a book. I was glad when publishers began to change that mindset in the late '80s early '90s. And I always appreciated when a book sported a back that showed a little more effort, or was just a bit more interesting, cool, or fun than the average advert splash. Got any favorites? What have I missed since the mid '90s? Let see some badonkadonk! Here are some of the ones I'm revisiting as I begin my quarter-century rebag. Really dig the Maxx #5 cover art that never was. The Stridex comic series was funny. And that Chromed out border on the Deathmate Red ad is so shiny I couldn't get out of the pic.
  13. Yeah but you should've seen it before the C&P.
  14. I desperately want to hate whoever did this, but I just can't. "Watch you. Watch you very much."
  15. Thank you, that really was everything I needed to know about variants.
  16. How do low print variant covers find their way into the population? Are they distributed to locals upon request or through a lottery, are they company/industry perks, do the artists give them to friends? Who gets those 800 copies of Massafera's virgin SS Rebirth #1s from the distributor? Thanks.
  17. That time Dominic Fortune got clocked with an umbrella by Turner D. Century, then flew away with him on a bicycle-built-for-two
  18. They're Ultra Pro. I'm really thinking these need to go back, it's very stressful to look at my books on them. Last time I bagged my books was 30 years ago but I really don't remember ever getting a pack this bad.
  19. Thank you so much, my last 3 hours of research actually makes some sense now.
