  1. Classic! I have the Art of Spawn figure based on that cover. Goes for a pretty penny nowadays....
  2. Wow yeah, I didn't even catch that. I'm usually vigilant on that sort of thing too. Bummer.
  3. The Valentine GGA auction is going to be bananas. So many gems.
  4. 4 - I like the flow of her hair better. Shark is an added bonus!
  5. I hate seeing these littered all over social media. Comic book collecting subreddit especially. Very annoying.
  6. Yeah I see that now! At least it's a Schomburg cover. But man, these people on Heritage are something else.
  7. My man Joe Doolin pumped out iconic Planet covers like nobody's business. How do books 75 years old manage to hold up like this? Locked in a vault that entire time?
  8. Bought a stellar GA book from Jason - very pleasant guy. Highly recommended!
  9. I think you can argue he eclipsed Todd in perfecting Spawn's look, as crazy as that sounds.
  10. Very nice! Ken Bald & Ogden Whitney had my favorite covers in the series.
  11. Always dug that Hulk 372 cover. Dale Keown did a sweet job on Sensational She-Hulk as well.
  12. Never resonated with me. Hence my only FF slab is #86 solely because of Doom.
  13. I just bought a book from them online last month. Hope this loser gets nabbed.
  14. Interesting! I definitely still like the covers in the 140s-50s. The logo change and art style was rather peculiar starting at 166.
  15. Fun thread. Love Spawn. I never went full ham with collecting Spawn slabs, only my favorite covers (which are a lot!) - I was more focused on raws of the early run. Stopped before #135 I believe, so I have 1-112 straight with others scattered about. That was always good enough for me. I preferred the older art style anyway, and later issues being low prints were a turnoff - wasn't too interested in conquering that mountain.
  16. Absolutely insane details and creativity on that cover. Rangers 14 is another - her hair is clamped down in similar fashion.
  17. I have the same mindset; only for my favorite covers. That goes for any comic era, not just GA. Completing an entire run/set would be too exhausting and costly for me. edit: Planet 41 is one that caught my eye as well!
  18. Phenomenal breakdown! Thanks so much. I've noticed the Firehair/western stuff is significantly cheaper. Definitely not as sought after as the others.
  19. Yeah, it's very a satisfying feeling. I started off with gritty 90s comics (Spawn, Lady Death, Punisher, etc.) since I was a kid then, so I'm probably on the younger side of GA collectors - but I was always intrigued by GA stuff because the art was so alluring but collecting it seemed like a daunting task at the time. Finally able to now dive into it and haven't looked back!
  20. These are amazing! Love Lily Renee and Joe Doolin. That guy churned out iconic covers like no tomorrow for Fiction House. I saw a Planet 56 recently listed on eBay and it's soaring in price already.
  21. Thank you for the insight! Very informative. I'm a relatively new GA collector so there is a lot I'm still learning. I have noticed the wild assortment of cover colors with these books - some look like normal tanning or foxing but others I'm not so sure. Some Fight logos I came across appear red, orange or yellow. Backgrounds at times too. Is it solely a Fiction House thing? I haven't seen this nearly as prevalent in other GA books.
