9.4 square bounds make me happy.

Some nice FFs in the current Heritage sunday auction. Thrill bids are in!

Gotta love those Hogarth Tarzan covers!
Gotta love auctions, too. I just scored a long-sought after Dectective #64 in the Heritage Sunday. Kirby kid gangs... (thumbs u

That's a purty circle 12, compadre.

Green Lantern is a Hall of Famer, but Superman is a legend.

One of the great things about this country is that no one has to apologize for their comic rooms! I salute you!

I miss buying Silver Age Spideys.
I hear you. My weird urge to buy Kirby FFs led to a reader run and a higher grade run.
And...there's always upgrading!
-
Mr. Berk, that is amazing.
I'd not checked this thread in quite a while and just now got to see the room (wow).
The funny thing is, I had just been thumbing thru a copy of Comic Book Marketplace #35. I'm a bit surprised they didn't show more then!

He was a re-write from Stan's first idea, Droom the dead lizard. Kirby felt the panels were a bit static.
-
Gotta love those covers. I really dig how everybody knows Droom on a first name basis. You've got a good PR man, Droomie.
Pre-hero rocks. I remember buying them and getting weird looks from people. "You paid $30 for that?"

My comics mentor tells a heart-rending story about the day he opened his eagerly anticipated copy of the new FF only to find Romita art therein. You can still feel his pain as he tells it.
Back then, they didn't tell you you could find The King over at the Distinguished Competition. We both went Kirby-less until Kirby's mid-seventies return to Marvel.

Annual 6 was a favorite.....I was kind of young when it came out and my mom was pregnant with my sister the same time Sue was pregnant with Franklin...it kind of put a cool spin on it.I was always surprised it wasn't more hot as keys are concerned...especially with the first appearance of Anihillus.GOD BLESS...

Annual #6 is my single favorite comic of all time.
-
Keep going on those annuals, Rob! 1 thru 6 are classics!

Did someone say "Surfer covers"?
One of the top five covers of the entire run! Stellar!
-
Zoiks! My LCS has a nice fine at $75! Where did you score that beauty?
-
Okay, I've read the whole thing, and even tho' I'm not a real D.C. guy, my vote goes to Superman #17. Superman's pose is classic, representing the genre, and the Hitler/Tojo aspect fixes it firmly in time. The K.I.S.S. rule culls out all the other baggage.

Great buy, great read! It's a fav of mine, because I read it as a youngster (and I own the original art to page #13!)

The Fright-Copter.
-
Yessir, that's a great copy of a classic comic!
-
Boy, that's a great read!
-
Wow! That's sparkley!
-
I dunno. I like #135 a lot better than Voltorg's little magic wands on #166.
-
Wow!
You know, I'd like 9.0s, too, but I've gotta live with my beaters for now. I'll just have to stage-parent your collection!

Ah, you're right. It don't float my boat, either.
