Shouldn't this be NG for cover only?

I work at an ad agency and we have a whole department dedicated to dealing with negative feedback on our clients' social media network, and let's just say that lashing out at the customer in public is never a good idea.

I haven't really been to a con in decades, but this one is nearby tomorrow and I was thinking of dropping off some books for CGC grading. Anyone know if they will be at this show, or do dealers submit for you or something? Bit of a noob question for someone who started collecting in 1974 I guess, but I have no experience with this.
Thanks!

Rare is right. I've only seen two other double cover ECs. A WS 14, a Frontline Combat 13 that I own and this. Good luck with your sale.
You should buy this one, then you could create an EC-DC registry set that would win.
(DC=double cover)

Years ago I played a game of whack-a-mole with an Ebay dealer who was doing the invisible keyword thing and all his stupid, unrelated auctions would show up in my searches. I kept reporting him, and eventually he would stop for a while. then I'd report him again. Wash, rinse, repeat.

If you really want to mess with the latecomers you should have left a bunch of empty bag/boards labelled AF15, IH1, etc etc
-
I'm just curious what kind of luck people have had finding covers and other replacement parts for valuable books. It's not unusual to find coverless keys (I had an AF15), and I know some people hold them in hopes of finding an orphaned cover, centerfold, etc. Other than things like pinup back covers, it seems highly unlikely for this to ever happen, but I know it does. Who's had their books happily married? Pics if available!

Chances are they have a presence on social media. I'd make sure all this info, including a link to this thread, appears on their Facebook and other pages.

You still have the best episode of the series ahead of you. When you hear Joe Walsh, you'll know you're there.
Agreed, I’m a huge fan and that is the best of the bunch!

Pretty sure that's a boot. I used to work in a collectible record shop in the 80s, and the owner ran the largest Beatles con on the East coast for years, so I've seen my fair share of Beatlebilia.

Buy some Skinny Puppy.
Risky proposition...some SP stuff is f'ing great, but when they're not good they are unlistenable. Saw them live twice, once was amazing, the other (more recent) time was the opposite of amazing. Unmazing?

And there's multiple versions.. due to it having been released, then the cover changed and had the trunk cover pasted over existing butcher covers (where you can barely see through and tell that the butcher cover is underneath.. notably Paul's dark hair showing through the white background of the "new" cover if I remember correctly). There is also the "peeled" versions where people realized they had the copies that had the new cover pasted over old, and tried to remove it; most of the time steaming it and peeling. Those vary due to quality of the peel job. Also notably is that there is a promotional copy of the original cover out there, but I only heard about that from the shop that had it and sold it.
Collecting records is fun and it is a lot like comics. Some great covers, need to handled carefully, are habit forming in both collecting and searching for, and they take up a lot of space if you find enough good ones. I collected for about 25 years, including a few stints working at various record stores; and still dabble in it every now and then. Even still these days, I wiill always check out a record store or two in any city I go visit.

this happens a lot here in Chicago. I had this "call" come up several times, buyer offers to pay for something unseen as I'm picking up. I know who one of them is
Seems like that could almost be a shilling tactic for the seller

I haven't really been following this much, but every time I see the title "Is a year too long..." in the General roundup a voice in my head screams "YES IT IS!!!"

Take the set as cheaply as you can, and use the books as value-added freebies to throw in when you make a sale.

Seems like you're doing a fine job, but this might be worth a read:

I am going to guess that it goes something like this...
"I have the invoice here and have checked with cgc; they are on top of it now and you should have your book shortly, hopefully by next blahblahday."
This will be like William Macy in Fargo, faxing illegible car documents as part of his crime.

Slab Pro! The guy would send you one for free if you asked, just to try it out. I got one, and have to admit it was pretty nice for a big rubber band. It was molded to fit the CGC cases, a slit on the top for the label to show through, nice thick corners. Like a bumper for your book. It was nice if I was travelling with a slab and didn't want it bouncing around in a box or case, if I was concerned about the corners of the slab cracking, etc. I never bought more because I'm not really much of a slab guy when it comes to my personal collection, but I thought it had some practical use.
I was sure the rubber band comment was a joke. Huh.

Need advice on a sale that is going sideways

Where is the middle man located? While it's pretty obvious that the last thing this problem needs is more people involved, maybe some reputable boardie lives in his area and might facilitate in some way? Meet the guy at the post office with the refund check or something? Grabbing at straws here but it might help, unless the middleman is committed to his scam.
Also, the fact that you were selling for half price gives the middleman plenty of room for markup, increasing the likelihood of that scenario as well as really cementing his role as the responsible party (unless it was a bunch run filler dollar books that OSP sees as ten dollar each, in which case the $675 was probably fair).
