  1. No... other than the front cover it is exactly like the regular edition. I went through it with the regular direct sale edition side by side and everything was identical. Most likely this is a printing error.
  2. Beautiful texture to those covers... congrats on a great set!
  3. Wow!!! I have the whole run too but nothing like the condition these are in. Beautiful copies!
  4. Wow... amazing accomplishment with the Variant Cap 212 too! Is this only the 2nd complete set besides Cosmic-Spider-Man? Congratulations.
  5. Here is a list I compiled some time back for the early 90's Marvel reprints... if it says "and 3rd" then that issue has a 2nd and 3rd printing. This list does not include comics that were available in bagged sets, or through special distribution channels such as the Penney reprints, X-Men Pressman, etc. I made this to track which regular distribution issues had multiple printings in the 90's. Alpha Flight 106 ASM 101,265,361,362 Cap 282 DD 319 Death's Head II 4 issue mini 1 and 2 FF 347,348,371 Ghost Rider 1,5,15 Hulk 377 and 3rd ,393,400 Nam 1, 52,53 New Mutants 87,95,100 and 3rd New Warriors 1 Ren & Simpy Show 1 and 3rd Silver Surfer 50 and 3rd Spec Spider-Man 189 Spider-Man 1 Stryfe's Strike File 1 Web Of Spider-Man 90 Wolverine 41,42 X-Factor 60,71,92 X-Force 1 X-Men 248,268,270,275,281,282
  6. Yes, I have the Legion of Super-Heroes index also. Those are very nice also.
  7. Wow, those two are nicer than I remember... might have to pick them up to complete the set. Thanks for sharing!
  8. That would be awesome... try to get the Subby one as that is my favorite. It indexes all the Invaders and Astonishing Tales series as well.
  9. Of course you would! Your collection is amazing from what I remember in your old posts. If you have a chance post up the Spider-Man and Conan ones so everyone can see the whole set.
  10. Nice finds... very tough to get those Newstand Price variants.
  11. They are not exceptionally rare although a few like the G.I. Joe, ASM, and X-Men do command higher prices for nice copies. The Archies were the toughest to find in decent shape when I put together my complete set a decade ago but now I look on EBay and there are quite a few. I seem to recall they were not as tough to find as the Penney MVPs but they are easier to describe on EBay so that may be why.
  12. Marvel Comics Index So as I was filing away my new Bizarre Adventures #27 (Thanks again Ron C.) and these were filed right before in the box. Strickly speaking these are not magazines but indexes with cover pics in B&W but they are magazine sized and have some great cover art so I'd thought someone might like to see them. I don't have 1 and 2 as I was not a big Spidey or Conan fan at the time (early eighties) and these are not high grade as all were rescued from quarter bins. There are great covers here from Steranko, Steacy, Reyes, Adams, etc. Anybody have these?
  13. I just got mine... it is beautiful and a huge upgrade from my quarter bin copy. Ron went way way way above and sent it in a whole bunch of bubble wrap, cardboard with bag and board... Priority!!! All this for a freebie??? Most mags and comics I actually pay for are not shipped with this care! Anyway, many thanks Ron. This old time collector is a happy camper today.
  14. The X-Men 268 is actually part of the 1992 Marvel Vintage Pack sold primarily through the Sears and JC Penney catalogs. There are sets for 1992-20 different comics, 1993-20 different comics and 1994-15 different so 55 in total with subtle cover differences and the 1994 set has almost no differences. You can see the write-up and scans I did for STLcomics way back when here- https://heroesgalaxy.com/variants/marvel-vintage-pack/
  15. Will do and thanks again!
  16. I'd like one but I'm not sure if I'm eligible. I did start a thread last month where i posted my complete Marvel Preview/Bizarre Adventures set but my 27 is in rough shape so I'd like a better copy. Let me know but either way this is an incredibly generous act. I salute you!
  17. All July 1973 Marvels that had MJs also had this insert.
  18. Nice find... another one that Kirk needs to get for the set. These are so tough to find... must have been a very limited printing.
  19. I haven't read most of these in 15 years or so but the Man-God issues stick out in my mind as really good reads. The Moon Knight story and that first Thor were okay too if memory serves.
  20. Oh, I have a complete set of DHOKF, Unknown Worlds of Science Fiction, Masters of Terror, Tales of Horror, Monsters Unleashed and a few others but I seem to have misplaced them except the DHOKF which are with my Marvel Previews. Most are readers from those bargain bins so not worth much.
  21. Well not that impressive when at the time these were not being sought out by collectors as everyone was into the next hot Indy comic, Byrne's Man of Steel, Dark Knight, etc. I remember a seller at a Con having about 50 boxes of Marvel, Atlas Seaboard, Warren and other mags 5 for a dollar and I was one of two or three people at his tables for over an hour. It was everywhere with little to no takers.
  22. I was rebagging some of my mags and came across my Marvel Preview set and thought I would snap some pics and share. 90% of these were pulled from quarter bins back in the mid to late 80's and the others I got for a buck or 2. Nothing real high grade here but #4 could be a F/VF or so. Anyway you can't complain when the whole set costs less than $10. Some great covers here from Starlin, Adams, Norem, Etc.
  23. Good to hear from you Carl... sorry these had to go but I have won one already and have a few more bids in today. I'll add these to my previous DD copies! Hope all is well. Roger
