If the registration card was originally attached to the manual(common in PS1), then it counts toward the grade, if it was a loose registration, then no.

From what I have found out from the graders, only 3 things count toward the grade, Box, Cart & Manual. They will note the other stuff, but it does not count toward the grade.

I can see how newer games with scratch resistant coating on the disc should be less of a factor than an older style disc without the coating. That would make more sense than how loose a loose disc is.

Does a loose disc effect the grade? If so, how much?

You should be able to send them back at no charge under Mechanical Error. Just sent back a game they forgot to add the seal grade to. Call customer service to be sure.

Here's some other highlights, I couldn't get a 9.8 on anything, even the X-com. They apparently forgot to add a seal grade on the Red Dead 2, it has to go back. Of note, the Deus Ex is fairly rare with 0 graded by WATA, seems odd for the first of the series, but they are tough to find.

Just back, X-Com jewel case, these are tough to find, much less in this condition, looks better than the lone WATA 9.8 B+ How did they get a 9.8 with a B+? seems odd to me

Yeah, I get what you're saying, and the contents of a 10 sealed game are no different than an 8.5 of the same game (if both are sealed) The same is true for comics though, rarely are the contents of the book graded, unless someone wrote in it or cut out a coupon. Page quality is all you normally get on the contents of a comic. BTW, they do grade the artwork on the game cases, but unless it's damaged under the seal, you never hear about it, I know from personal experience. Chasing grades is what people do, and we are all guilty of it. I used to do it more than I do now, yeah I will watch a 9.9 or 10, but bid on it? Not likely, unless it's in the same price range as a 9.6/9.8 of the same book or game. (unlikely) Are they handing out more 10's than they should? Possibly, but I am not going to buy one unless it goes super cheap. What's annoying or good, depending if you are buying or selling, is the number of 9.9 or 10's, drives down the value of the 9.8's and 9.6's, if you are wanting a decent copy cheap then it's a good thing. I have about 20 switch games to be graded, but have held off due to the number of 10's for some of them, mine will likely be 9.8's at best. I will still get them graded, but older stuff is going to be graded first because there are too many in super high grade with these newer games. By the time I get around to grading my switch games, they might not be worth the grading fees. I will still get most of them graded, just to have graded copies, but there's no rush. I can't tell the difference between a 9.8 and 10, but I don't look at everything with a microscope, if it looks good, I send it. Then again, I am usually happy just to have a decent graded copy of some things, doesn't have to be perfect.

Yep, a 5 cent plastic seal is the difference between a 9.8 and a 10.0 with a game And.. a 1 cent rusty staple is the difference between 9.8 and a 9.0 with a book Not sure what the original cost has to do with either one It's pretty tough to get high grades with games, I have purchased new games from a store, carefully taken it home and stored carefully, only to have it get a 9.6 A++ This one I bought at BestBuy, paid extra for a bag (they are not free at my local store) made sure it was handled with gloves and still not a 10 or even a 9.8. Stuff happens between the opening of the case, placing on the shelf, and cashiers that don't care. Had a cashier at Walmart drop my games on the floor, and yes it damaged a couple of them. Not sure how you think getting a 10 isn't a challenge. Also, here is a structurally sound 9.8 Planet comics, it had a small amount of surface rust on the top staple (1 cent variety) and it received a 9.0, check the graders notes. Condition is everything, book or game. Personally, I wouldn't pay extra for a modern game with a 10, that's not much of a challenge, a challenge still, but nothing compared to a SNES, or any cardboard box game with a 10. (which I have not seen very often) 10's usually only come from a case that is untouched, even then most will be of the 9.8 variety, and it's easier to get a modern case of games than a case of older games. Just like comic bundles, don't know if you have ever seen that, but sometimes they are in bundles, top few and bottom ones have grooves from the binding, but there are some sweet copies in the middle.

You can always check eBay sold items (that's usually different from what people are asking) Not always 100% accurate, but pricecharting.com keeps a pretty good record, sometimes the records are not correct, but you can get a good idea. (I have seen stuff listed as sold, when in fact it was just a cancelled listing)

Yeah, condition is always important, I haven't seen very many CIB PlayStation games, but would not be surprised to see some FF7, Silent Hill, Castlevania, and a few others in the future. As far as FFXII collectors edition, you can still find sealed copies for $50-$100 and CIB's run around $10-$20 so spending $50 on a CIB for that would probably not be worth your effort or money. Also, I don't see that version in the list of games you can submit, pretty sure they don't do steelbooks at this time. Shame, because I have a few steelbooks I want to get graded. Take a look at what you have and see what it sells for to determine if it's worth your money, for instance PS1 Silent Hill CIB sells for around $200, if you have something like that, in like new condition, then maybe send it. If it's not worth the grading fee (figure $50 with shipping to CGC), then don't bother. (unless it's just something you want in your collection) I have a number of graded games that are probably not worth the fees, but I wanted a copy for my collection despite that. Depends what you collect.

These came in today, was hoping for 9.2 on both Wolfenstein and Donkey Kong, can't win them all. The PS1 games are my stragglers, PS1 games that I had not graded for one reason or another.

9.6 + 8.5 + 9.6 divided by 3 = 9.2, so why did it get a 9.0?

Those normally have a holo strip in the upper right corner, it's possible it was a store reseal. However, most store reseals are not folded so I can see how it got the counterfeit designation. The upc bars on top don't match the same on yours as other Max Payne's, so they are probably made up, you might could scan it and see if it comes up correctly. I don't have any PS2 games with Security Device across the top, that's normally an Xbox thing, and they don't have bars. Security Device Enclosed is much easier to fake than the actual white label across the top.(much less holo strip) Sadly, there are people that reseal games, and some are pretty good. I have purchased a few counterfeits over the years and I didn't find out until they were sent in for grading. I feel your Payne..
