  1. You don't see this one come up often for sale.

    img127.jpg

The highest graded...the ONLY graded...Teen-Age Diary Secrets 9. Not often seen is right, more like never! And that is one heck of a nicely presenting 4.0. Graded back in '08 - was that your submit, Joanna?

Those chuckleheads in Sarasota can't seem to keep these titles straight btw. It's Teen-Age Diary Secrets, of course, not Diary Secrets. And to add insult to injury, it is a Baker cover for which cgc didn't credit him on the label. The only Baker cover of the run for this 6 issue title. True, it's not an original cover - it's a blowup of an interior panel. Don't ask me from which story though. For that we'd need to have an open copy of the book. Anyone?

Also, interestingly enough, this issue is an all Baker reprint, 68 big pages in a little digest format, and it's an exact reprint page for page of Teen-Age Diary Secrets #7.

I know Tomorrow's Treasures had (has) a copy but I think there are seal tears in the interior so it wouldn't get a blue label. I did have this slabbed. It is the same interior of 7. I don't recall which St. John issue this panel originally appeared in. I once photographed it but neglected to mark it or remember which original issue this story was from. I also have 7 which I got from a fellow board member. Also, I think there was a thread once going where we were trying to figure out the digests. I think what happened with these is that the digests were not a hit so they had a bunch of stock left over from 7 and just stapled a new cover for 9. Recycle and reuse!

I bought Richie"s copy. There aren't any others around!

I am only missing WR # 14, at this point. Missed out on a recent sale of on Ebay.

You have a beautiful set,Joanna. Eh, WR that is...

Out of all St. John's you are only missing WR 14? This would be amazing.

  3. I posted this I think a couple years ago but here is my WR run. WRGroup.jpg

Whoa! What a great set of books! Every one of them looks like it may be among the best copies around. (worship)

It's a mixed bag of grades. The most difficult that I found was WR3. The copy I have is a detached cover.

  4. Since GCE 12 is the topic, here are a couple of others...

    GiantComicsEdition15front_zpsf3288b8e.jpg

Who is this "Bumble Kitty", stepping out of the shadows with the highest graded GCE 13 and, if the rest of the book looks anything like the GORGEOUS front cover, what would be the highest graded GCE 15?

Nice books. My copies of those two are pretty raggedy.

I didn't even realize there was such a nice copy of GCE 13 out there. Lovely copies!

  5. Be interesting to see what this one looks like in hand. Fuzzy photo accompanied by the dreaded "not graded - I am not a grader." Hard to resist, though, with the full cover and a couple of Baker stories, particularly since there is only one graded copy -- a 4.0.

This was the first Baker I bought (not this particular copy). Started a dangerous addiction. :)

  6. Speaking of somewhat rare romance books. This auction ends in a couple hours if anyone is interested in a GCE 15?

i been watching this since it posted last week. i sold my 2 copies so needed to add this book again, not bad for $177. sold my cgc 3.0 for $650 private sale.

    Hello Joanna :hi:

Glad you picked it up at a decent price! I'd say $177 is a good deal for this one.

  7. Got my copy, the last Baker (alter ego #47) book and this new one mention Matt Baker work on 132 Flamingo Strips but i own num #133?

nice to see new Baker OA but mostly reprints from Alter Ego#47.

I wish more of the book could have been in color with a more quality card stock but Shaun Clancy made some awesome contributions to the book. He unearthed a lot of new information. It was some great detective work to find Matt Baker's best friends.

^^ Joanna you also did a good job. Shaun did a nice job with those interviews, new info on Baker's personal life.

Thank you, much appreciated! It was a great honor to be able to interview Mr. Robinson.

  9. Of all the "All-Picture All-True" St. John rebound giants, that Police Cases (#2) might be the hardest to find. Besides your copy, I've only ever seen one other. All-Picture All-True Love Story #2 is probably just as scarce, I only know of three copies (including your's, John).

That Seven Seas #4 is awe inspiring. That book is now very high on my own want list. But at least I did find a lower grade All Top #16 this year.

I think so too - and it has a really cool cover.

On my want list, hopefully one day I'll see one. :)

One of my old copies! (worship)

    Mine too

If I ever get it, I'm keeping it! :D

I bought it, got an offer to sell it for quite a bit more and immediately bought another copy....so I got my copy for free :sumo: but I do miss this one and CGC graded it higher than the grade it was sold to me at, or the grade I sold it at. Congrats. It's still a beauty.

Thank you. I bought it from JvR11 in her sales thread last December. Apparently Jenny has been passed around quite a bit! Don't worry - I'll take good care of her! :cloud9:

Wow, an 8.5! Very nice score, I wouldn't even have sold this copy if I wouldn't have gotten another. I was trying to make a decision which one to keep. Wonder if I made the right decision :) . Great one to slab!

  11. i hope this book gets release on the Oct 17th hate to see another delay again. :wishluck:

Got an e-mail notice from Amazon today, book is delayed (again, and again...) until January 8th, 2013. :(

I spoke to the author at NYC. He said that the book is at the printers right now. They had found an artist who had worked with Matt Baker. They revised the original manuscript to include the new information that they received.

thanks for sharing that info, looks like going to be a epic book. cant wait (thumbs u

    Hi all! :hi:

I know it's been ages since I've posted. I'm still looking for a few more issues to complete the St. John run but these may not surface :pullhair:

I can't wait to see the whole Matt Baker book. There is a preview available on the Twomorrows website. I've helped to contribute to the book with a Fred Robinson interview. It has been quite awhile waiting for this book but I'm sure you will all learn new information on the legendary Matt Baker :cloud9:
