  1. Dang! Can you share what’s the order that created the bug so that other folks can avoid it in the future? Hate you went through that headache bud!
  2. Different grade after each signature. So probably best to keep them as-is (unless it’s a common 9.9).
  3. You likely did get the grade bump. I’ve had this exact thing happen multiple times. They seem to like to take the highest sell price in the last 6-12 months and use that as what to charge you.
  4. Unless you can find that exact defect to be a recurring one in that same issue (e.g., multiple 9.8’s with the same defect): then you probably are capped at a 9.6 like @MAR1979 said.
  5. Hey folks I had been looking at the CGC loaded book scans the last few months but it looks like they aren’t showing anymore? Did they disappear or do we got to pay to access them now?
  6. @KCOComics @marvelmaniac You folks got the same opinion I do; I just don’t think a tear of that size is worth taking a chance on. I was hoping someone would tell me I’m crazy, tbh 🤣
  7. Hey folks Looking at a nice copy of Avengers 55, but it has a larger than normal bindery tear. I was wondering if anyone thought it too large for a 9.8? Everything else seems press-able or cleanable. Thanks folks!
  8. Don’t think it’s worth it; I doubt it be worth it financially, even if you did get a higher grade here. Go up a full point and the fair market value is only a bit more than the grade you just purchased. Definitely ask the experts if anything can be improved, but I don’t see much improvement on that book’s value with what grades are within reach.
  9. @Old Fashion PB and JThat was my initial thought too, but surprised it made it to 9.6 with it! Just trying to get better at grading books on my own vs what CGC may determine. Thanks everyone!
  10. @The Lions Den more just confused by what exactly is on that bit of the book? Whatevs; it be what it be! Just curious what the flip it could be that would permit a 9.6…..
  11. Hey folks Trying to expand my knowledge, and got a question for you all. What type of defect is the circled spot on the book below? I’m providing a non-zoomed in pic too for reference. It looks like some type of stain or foxing?? What do you folks think? Thanks as always!
  12. For anyone that is interested I have been contacted by a detective in Oregon who has been tasked with handling the case associated with Mike and HR. It seems law enforcement is getting involved, and you will likely hear from detectives out of the Albany, OR Sheriff’s department soon. If anyone would like the detective’s contact info; DM me and I will ask them about having you added to the investigation.
  13. They clearly used an electron microscope to observe the atoms have been permanently displaced by an extra 4 pico-meters. Automatic 1 point deduction! Joking aside; I think they just used bad wording here.
  14. They call it a smear, but there is another note that says “small writing” in the same area. The small writing note makes me think someone tried to erase something from the cover.
  15. You likely won’t get a 9.9 from CGC; not because CBCS is “lesser”, but because the statistics for a 9.9 are so absurdly small that the probability is non-existent. Keep it as is, unless you are ok with it being a 9.8 from CGC.
  16. Thanks @LowGradeBronze; can’t physically touch it, as it’s encapsulated. However, you’re thinking what I’m thinking; I thought it looked like either a sticker was there or someone had tried to erase some writing:ink from the cover. I was hoping it was maybe an ink smudge from the printing process……but I think this one may just be damage 😱😭
  17. Hey folks Looking for help on whether this is an ink smear or some attempted erasing/“corrective” measures someone took. Providing a screenshot of the book, and an example of what the area normally looks like. Also: I will charge my phone after this post; I promise 😱🤡.
  18. Mine got there on 4/1, and it took until 4/8 for it to ship. You should get it out in the next 1-2 business days.
  19. oooooo! You just saved me some headache; I had read once that you should try to send books in (if possible) where the books are from the same era.
  20. Thanks hombre! I had once read that the more seasoned graders tended to the High Value and Unlimited Value tiers, but wanted to run it by some folks who know much better than me here. Just trying to figure things out. I’ll likely divide the books up into eras too; I accidentally shipped books from the 70’s with ones from the 90’s, so I expect that may have scrambled the results too.
  21. @joeypost @The Lions Den Hate to bother you guys, but I know you two are the local experts here.
  22. Hey folks Got a question: does CGC use different graders based on whether you submit a Modern Era, High Value, or Unlimited Value book? I’ve NEVER gotten a 9.8 from an ME submission, but had alot of 9.8 books from High Value and Unlimited tiers Just curious because I have some books that I’m getting graded, and thinking of paying extra for them to go to High Value; if there are better graders, that is. Thanks folks!
