  1. Great copy what'd you grade it - I bought the Monterey Copy a few years ago. Oh and PS - GET OFF MY WANT LIST
  2. The quest to log all the books I bought continues - here are two books I thought certain tro...cough cough, esteemed froum members DL and Short shorts might appreciate.
  3. You better hope I don't come to Wizard Chicago then youngster - I'll give ya a run digging through stock on the floor to find hidden gems. Actually there was very little BA Horror in Grade at WonderCon - in fact I think there were far more Pre-Code books available. Which I found interesting. You gots to get up pretty early in the morning to beats me to the bargains old man! I don't plan on going to sleep.

  5. Bought approx 200 books this weekend here are some of them
  6. This definitely belongs in the HAVE A CIGAR THREAD
  7. Ya its an amazing book, I was think Ugh so I wanna post my lowly WWBN's after that piece of comic history.
  8. White Mountain Pedigree - these are my first WM's. Question? Is there a COA with the White Mountain Pedigree?? I didn't get one and want to make sure it was not by mistake. It was a pleasure doing business with Mr. Payette
  9. http://www.mytrailerpark.com/ You really have a serious hard-on against people from Texas don't you Trojan boy? Yep, we all have sex with our sisters and have a total of three teeth in our head. Honestly, you people from Cal-i-for-ni need to get over your insecurities and realize all of the things that your state has going for it. Mudslides, inpenetrable smog, winning sports teams (Dodgers, Raiders, Kings, 49'ers) OJ Simpson, Watts, cars equipped with special emission systems so that you can drive a mile in 4 hours without killing all the remaining condors, million dollar homes that should cost about 150k in any market that is not in Bizarro world. Want me to go on? I could but i need to go take care of my aunt. She is such a little nympho. We also have California girls. Nuff said. For the first time on the CGC boards Deathlock and I 100 % agree - California Girls - they're up, but HOT so what can ya do.
  10. Sterling I am a big fan of the Essentials Line from Marvel and was happy to see DC move in that direction with its Showcase line. And of course I love BA horror comics and am slowly putting together a HG Raw run of HOM. That said, I think HOM and BA DC in general is one area that Black and White reprints may actually really not due enough justice to the point where I dont know if I want to pick this up. Its one of the few times I'd be thrilled to pay more for something in color...... However at the price you really cant lose.
  11. Rules are rules! You have to pick one from those three I'll pick for him. Swamp Thing 21 is one of the best covers of the Copper Age so it gets the nod. Well I did list it number one and ya Norinn, Tom Yeates is very underappreciated as an artist - that cover is amazing, with a tip of the hat to Toth, Wood etc.
  12. Yeah, real cheap! I said a lot of that GA expensive [embarrassing lack of self control] not all of it. You can have your Action 1 and Marvel 1 and Supes 1. Detective 1 ah now thats a comic
  13. I count myself lucky I don't covet Superman and a lot of that expensive GA cr@pola so: 1. Detective Comics #1 2. ASM 50 - have one but it has issues 3. Weird Science Fantasy #29 4. AF #15 5. Batman 171
  14. very tough question - after reading them for 25 years how could you pick just one. Sorry Gotta go top 3 1. Anatomy Lesson by Alan Moore in Saga of the Swamp Thing 21. 2. Marvel and DC Present X-men and New Teen Titans 1 shot (Marv and Chris I think) 3. And yes Scott Daredevil 181 by Frank Miller Copper Rules you fools
  15. Nice to see all the RAW Pedigrees , there is nothing like a Pedigree Book, but you only really realize this when you can see the gloss, inks, colors and pages up close. In the slab just does not due them justice IMO. Oh Brad those were a few GR's that Harley took off Shin I believe.
  16. All the arguments have merit. However, this just reinforces the point that there is no clear single comic that started the BA. Yes there is. Ronald McDonald 1. The end.
  17. Thats a nice post Keith, I think the key for me is the a shift in paradigm - now while this is encapsulated in a single books for the emergence of the SA. Could it be for the BA that it does NOT occur in a single book, but is found in a few storylines all seeking to either circumvent or push the envelope of the CCA. Now JC's point of the Payoff in the GL books coming after 76 is valid, however the seed was set in 76. So it may be that a trio of books that established the BA: GL 76, Conan 1 and ASM 96. Each of these books tried to bring a higher level of realism and more importantly Grit to its readership through new approaches to story and art.
  18. Id never seen the cover to 52 before, thats awesome
  19. You are correct, was so happy to see his work in that issue.
  20. Sorry Andy - I tool a look at the dealer's other auctions (nice selection by the way - affordable for those of us who don't want to or can't shell out $32K for VF/NM slabbed copies )and saw another that might have that top staple issue as well - the JLA 5 But I found his shipping notes pretty funny...looks like he loves Canadians freak'n Greggy... what's not to like about Canadians Happy Thanksgiving
