  1. I went to every Leeds Mart at the Griffin for years from 86 onwards so our paths will have crossed, Kev used to go there too. I was an awkward shy teenager at the time so we probably never spoke 😜
  2. Wow. That is a stunning set. I'm blown away.
  3. Oh didn't know about this. Ordered. And yes, I'm old school and prefer paperback when it comes to books. Maybe the only area of my life that hasn't gone digital yet.
  4. Definitely US Marvel. Seeing other people responses since I've posted has made me think. This was 42 years ago and I was 7. Maybe they didn't come in every week. Can't ask my dad anymore and it's possible we can't trust my memory after all this time.
  5. In the late seventies my dad was young policeman and worked a lot of night shifts. Can't remember which day of the week it would be but he would leave a pile on the TV for me when I woke up for school. The wholesalers was on his beat so when they came in he would get first pick of titles. So that sounds to me like they would arrive weekly at the wholesalers, at least in Middlesbrough in the late seventies.
  6. Had to go somewhere so missed it live. Looks like an anti - climax anyway. wonder if a higher bid was missed?
  7. Didn't realise this was finishing otherwise I would have watched. Pretty incredible price for a 9d comic my dad bought new 🙄. Hope it does bring other copies into view, even though I'm resigned to never replacing dad's copy that he sold back in 1980.
  8. First time I think I heard the ballast story was in Duncan's process guide from 1989, so the idea has been around for a long time.
  9. Typical Darryl. Who cares what he thinks it looks like. It isn't and never will be. Don't even bother sending stage money, just send a tenner saying it looks like a £100000.
  10. Seeing Stans signature on books from the last few years of his life makes me feel very uncomfortable knowing about the way he was treated. You can see the decline in them also.
  11. I love FF4. My pence copy went with the original collection back in 95. I would easily recognise it today though as a huge chunk of the bottom of the cover was missing.
  12. I wonder if anyone is close to having all 3023 pence issues? I am nowhere near, not even trying. Kevin may be the only collector I know of who might be close? Wouldn't necessarily be an easy job to go through a collection and note which are pence issues either.
  13. Steve, you deserve so much credit for this work. A fantastic effort that I doubt anyone else could have done. As you know, years ago, Kevin and I tried to document all pence copies but just couldn't do it. I compiled a list of pence copies and was pleased with that but your work has gone way beyond that. And I love that those 20. Fantastic.
  14. I liked the NU when it started. Especially Starbrand and Justice. Thought it was going to be my generations (I was 15) version of Marvel explosion in 1961. Shame it didn't turn out like that.
  15. It was his first appearance outside FF and a memorable scrap with Hulk. I remember before his third volume in 87 started all his appearances commanded a premium but I guess not so much now, maybe a little, I dunno.
  16. Trailer ok. Still not greatly excited though. Want to see and hear more from the protagonist, felt like I know more about the father from the trailer. Be good to see FFF in there.
  17. Those prices make me shake my head. But his voice has to be the most annoying in the history of talking. 🙉
  18. Enjoyed then at the time but don't imagine I would now. I had a soft spot for the run, like other series from the time I suppose like Ka-Zar or Moon Knight. Still need to get the GN though.
  19. Agreed. Surely guiding is interfering? And the scene where one of them creates water? That's interfering to me.
