  1. A man after my own heart I wasn't exactly looking AT the top either
  2. Yep... I don't see the designation sticking like the other monikers. And the reason is the majority of the collecting crowd these days is more mature and older. They bought these comics off the racks, sometimes in their late teens and adults, and don't see them as a special "time". That's the difference when talking about the different eras. When talking everything up to Bronze, ALOT of collectors were already collecting comics afterwards off the racks as pretty mature collectors. So anything after, they were already "hip" to the comics scene and the comics wreren't "special". And "special" has a whole lot to do with collecting and the prices paid... Calling something Copper, Lead, Prism, or whatever isn't going to do alot to drive demand for those comics regardless of the dealers desire to do so if the majority of your clientele were there when the comic was released... Jim Completely agree Jim. I was buying comics new in the Bronze age (just, or rather my Dad bought the for me) and "copper age" doesn't feel special. I wonder though as we move forward dealers will want to categorize the era as they already do - it's plain and simple marketing tactics and they will only do it if it works! Neil
  3. Wife Beater refers to the sleevless top she's expertly wearing. Think of all the meat-heads walking round towns on a Saturday afternoon in them and you see why it's called a wife beater. My oh My by the way, go Keely
  4. Patient of yours Unfortunately no, but some patients do wear the most inappropriate things to see a Doc. I need to know her name please for an Image Search
  5. We all love Holly, and not just at Christmas
  6. Ok I'm here now. A little late I know, but if nobody tells me how am I supposed to know. Just pics of English chick then?
  7. Diana Rigg A friend of mine shared a flat with her nephew. She didn't come round dressed like that though
  8. I think it's right to look at this in the broader social picture. In the late sixties things changed - MLK and Kennedy assassinated, Civil Rights Riots, Student Riots in Paris, Brian Epstein died (which changed Lennon), Lennon met Yoko, musicians stating dying, Sharon Tait slaughtered. These things changed Western Culture. Music, Film (Easy Rider being the start), Literature, and COMICS. I find the late sixties/early seventies a fascinating period where the (hippy?) mood changed significantly and shaped the way we look at things today. Great thread. Neil
  9. Nice potos. Makes me nostalgic for collecting in the UK in the 80's. The fanzine Speakeasy had lots of coolarticles and adverts (from Stateside comics) - anyone got any of these?
  10. Hey Tilt cool books, how come you only posted now?
  11. Magnificent. What I wouldn't give to smell a book like that!
  12. There are quite a few right here that need to read this too. That is true. I've received comics in reused unpadded envelopes and 2 thin pieces of this cardboard from prominent sellers on this board. It's frustrating to pay $10 for shipping, get a poorly packaged envelope and notice that the sender spent less than $3 to ship it. Note to seller, gouge me for shipping AND/OR package poorly and I won't buy from you again. I've lost count of the times I've had books through in just an envelope so they've been beat to hell. It's never happened to me from sellers on the boards though, only eBay. And excess shipping is one of my pet hates. If I see a book I really want on eBay and the shipping is excessive I will pass on it. If I ever overcharge I always refund the difference. Ive posted it before but its worth posting again.. ebay seller theneg_123 sold me 6 comics for 1p each and wanted maximum postage £16 ($25) for them (£2.75each). i asked for a discount and the said 'sure' so charged just £12 ($16). I just paid him in the end. The comics were posted in a plain envelope. no bag, no cardboard nothing!
  13. Please take to ebay Gav. According to some sellers it's ok to put a comic in an envelope and nothing else.
  14. That's a nice looking #27, especially considering the dark cover. Love the books.
  15. Fantastic Books. Does anyone have a definitive list of all the picture frame books ?
