  1. I like this thread because the most interesting will always be the most recent one. (Except for this one of course)
  2. 2003 2004 2005 kingofrulers 2006 joeypost 2007 2008 Comicopolis, Boozad, Nmtg9 2009
  3. I remeber him at the Griffin shows in Leeds and i will have been there for his first in 89. Back then i just remeber he priced 'well' (by that i mean he was never the cheapest). hes a ****
  4. Cool wall abner. Are the books secured to the wall. Might the vibrations from the treadmill knock them off?
  5. Did he pay you a fair price at least? I was after around 2000 and he paid 1350 telling me he couldnt afford more. after i agreed he pulled out a huge wad of 20's counted them out and put most back in his pocket. i was 23 and naive (to say the least) and needed the cash. if i had sold to a dealer / collector who appreciated the books and was friendly i wouldnt care so much, but Darryl was a true arce. neil Thanks, (thumbs u I would imagine there will always be another buyer for his books but treating people poorly must impact his long term sales. He seems to do it a lot to experinced collectors as well. Customer service is EVERYTHING. I knew my collection was 'worth' about 5000 by guide but he just wouldnt have it.
  6. Having dealt with Richard, i would say that should not be mentioned in the same breath as Daryl, but his grading does leave a lot to be desired, Indeed. I bought quite a few comics from in May and most were overgraded. I shan't order with him again. Bob, I've dealt with Richard and while it may be unfair to compare him to Darryl in terms of honesty, I've found his grading to be very bad. I bought a few lots of low/mid grade early SA and every book was consistently a full grade overgraded (FN+ = VG+). I even showed the bunch to FT who agreed with my opinion. Richard did refund me but wasn't happy about it. I've since seen the grades he's given comics on ebay and it's convinced me that it wasn't a one off. Furthermore a freind of mine visited the Quicksilver warehouse earlier in the year and told me that he didn't think the grading was at all accurate. Overall there is no question in my mind. This does seem to be the consensus, nice guy but overgrades

  8. I try not to think about it too much, but every time i hear his name it fills me with bitterness
  9. He's the guy I sold our collection to back in 1995. Talk about cold. Broke my heart when he slammed the van door shut and sped off without saying bye.
  10. Well the collection is finished Took me a little over a month to get the 68 books, alas I don't have all of them in hand at the moment, but I'll pick them up next month when I'm in the US. Got all the Fury books from Stuart (nochips) and most of the #101 - 152 books I got from an original owner. there were 9 books missing, the #101 & #102 I won on eBay and the others I managed to snag at Heritage last week (Sunday auction) All books will get cracked out and then I'll read them from #101 through to the end. So this means I can go out and start completing another series Excellent work. The older i get the more i appreciate this title. Are you going to post your cracking on your blog? Id be interested to see how its done. Neil
  11. Fixed it for ya He looks really pleased with himself doesnt he. like those pictures you see of people who come home to find the downstairs flooded and everything ruined
  12. Loving this thread and the books. What i like about these is that there could be lots sat in collections with people too lazy to check through
  13. Its a drawing of spidey and it says 'Fromyour pal Spider-Man'. Sorry dont have a pic of it though
  14. Where did you get the canvas done he11blazer ? would love one of those on the wall. neil
  15. there is that weird issue of iron fist (14 i think ) where byrne drew him with a different costume it was really weird. dont think he wore it in uncanny though?
  16. i think he really took off after the claremont/miller mini series (1982?). this made him a cool character with an interseting story outside of the team. poker is right 180 and 182 were also fairly highly priced at the time.
