  1. Yeah, I've been looking out for a nice yet affordable copy too. I've got a mid grade raw one. Well if you don't want it Garry throw it my way
  2. I have heard the story before - can't remember why - someone will. The cover used blows big time. Kirby drew one part and Ditko the other I believe Ditko drew a cover for AF#15 which is shown in Marvel Tales #137 but I don't know if it was done at the time or afterwards.
  3. I'm good, been away a lot recently and away next week so will sort visiting out after that.
  4. Yeah I think I might - I certainly want to Andrew! BICS is the Birmingham International Comic Show http://www.thecomicsshow.co.uk/
  5. Sorry if I am missing something, but do we know who owns it?
  6. Time to bring this one back up top. Who is going to BICS then?
  7. Well I see X-Men 1 just above DD1 and Sgt. Fury 1. The old team, as much as I love em, are not that popular - Phoenix's first appearance is more important than Marvel Girls first. I agree Magneto is more popular than Cyclops to the wider public, mainly thanks to their portrayals in the movies. Cyclops was an insufficiently_thoughtful_person and Magneto played by an actor who brought gravitas. Hence the reason we are gonna see Origins for Magneto but not Cyclops.
  8. The kind of coverage the Lakes doesn't need. It is one of my favourite places. A sad time for them after last weeks bus crash and the floods last year.
  9. I'm actually quite envious I wanted the wife and the kids not to talk to me so I could play with my new iPad
  10. Yep been away but back to normality now - and the wife not talking to me ...
  11. Hey Gary when is you moment of fame on Dr Who Confidential? (hope I haven't missed it)
  12. This book slabs really well. The lower grade 3.0's and 5.0's look very nice. Congrats to you chaps in the club. Alas I don't think I ever will be Neil
  13. It should have been but it was the telly news - BBC or Tyne Tees. Cloud is still there and doesn't look like its disappearing. Very bizzare
  14. Local news said we have seen nothing like this since the Orville Brothers first took flight. Nice, grounded, sensible, accurate reporting.
  15. Get it graded. It would present well and preserve it. I think it will come back a .5 or possibly a 1.0 if complete. (thumbs u It's Complete and I'm not expecting it would come back more than a 1.0 and even feel it may come back a .5 as said. I just want to have it presented well and preserved so that no more damage occurs. I'm just always tempted to get it out Unless you're looking to sell it, why entomb it so that you can't hold it, look through it, and smell it? A 4 mil mylar with a fullback will preserve it at least as well as a CGC slab for decades to come. I'm not too bothered about th e money factor, the spine of the cover is so brittle that I feel it will fall apart everytime i handle it so i'm not really getting the benifits you mentions any way. I want to preserve it as is really but in some way I am with yyou but in others i'm not and thats why i'm being so undecisive Hey Gary, I know how much you love the X-Men and that book - get it slabbed and you won't be able to do anymore damage to it. Then when you do upgrade it's already slabbed so you can liquidate it quicker (thumbs u Neil
  16. My wife's horse was the one that didn't run at the start
  17. Haven't bet on that for years. Hoping to make the most of the half decent weather and get out today.
  18. Interesting. Jeff, I found this info on mycomicshop.com: Avengers (1963-1996 1st Series) 2nd Printing #88 Marvel: 1994 Original cover price: $0.15 More information... This is the 2nd printing. The 2nd printing has a stridex ad on the back cover. I was looking through a friends duplicates recently to buy and spotted a beautiful copy of the book. I got really excited till he pointed out it was a second print Do you still have access to it? I'd be interested. No. What details do you want to know? I could ask him next time I go see him. Neil
  19. Didn't know - just found out reading this thread. The man did so much for this country's music scene - the effects are still felt today. Sad.
