  1. Thanks - I actually got my Single Series #20 a week ago (see the Beater Grail thread). Two of my personal grails in one week!
  2. Just came today. Another one to scratch off the want list!
  3. It came today! Not exactly a 9.0 like Bullet's, but not too shabby for a $125 BIN. Thought I'd include the BC as well. Some of these FC's have great BC's
  4. Bullet, those are some amazing books! I'm very jealous of your #10 - that's a gorgeous copy! I just the BIN on one myself a few days ago on ebay and I'm hoping it gets here today or tomorrow.
  5. That's cool! I thought it was a cover only a Buck Rogers completionist like me could love. It's actually pretty tough to find compared to the preceding Fritz issues, since it's the second to last issue of the run. Check with Joe Nacca at Golden Age Comics - I think he has a VG copy listed for $20 or $30 if I remember correctly.
  6. In all seriousness, Bill, great books and awesome page quality!
  7. Yeah, but the Marvels will probably just be lame November copies. *yawn*
  8. You're embarrassed? After all the amazing books I've seen posted here in the last few days, I'm terrified to post any of my cheap, oddball low to mid-grade non-uber keys.
  9. Man Billy, for someone who described himself as a "first editions collector" you sure do have a lot of amazing comics! I can only imagine what your book collection must be like.
  10. Nice! Man, you're not wasting any time putting together this run. How many of the early issues (single digit) do you have? Are you sticking to the regular series or are you going to go after Series 1 and FF:CoC too?
  11. The Red Dragon is a awesome cover and really appeals to the historian and anthropologist in me with all the racial stereotyping and war propaganda. But if it really came down to it, I'm ashamed to admit it, but I gotta go with the boobies and gams!
  12. Holy spoon! You're off to a pretty good start! I think my first GA book was a Classics Illustrated.
  13. Hi, Welcome to the boards! That's a great book - thanks for posting it. However, this isn't the appropriate place to be posting links to ebay auctions. There is a separate forum specifically for that: http://boards.collectors-society.com/postlist.php?Cat=0&Board=comicsmarket You might want to edit your post to remove the link before a mod deletes it. Also, while this is the first time Alley Oop appeared in his own title (and hence can be called Alley Oop #1), it is far from his first appearance in comic books. He first appeared in the Funnies #1 in 1936 and was a regular feature in that title for years.
  14. It's amazing how relatively common these books are (at least in low grade). You'd think they'd be somewhat rare given their age, but there's almost always one for sale on ebay. They must have printed millions of them. That's a lot of Corn Flakes. (Edit: BTW, I did win that SS 20. It's fugly to be sure, but it's mine. )
  15. Just upgraded my 1933 Buck Rogers Kellogg's Premium. I know it doesn't look like much of an upgrade, but you should see the undercopy.
  16. Coverless Tec 27 in a hearbeat. I'd get a nice laser repro cover for it for the time being and who knows, maybe down the road I might come across a cover - I've seen one on ebay before. Then I'd just need a justice of the peace to join the two in holy matrimony.
  17. Wow, what an amazing book! I have been drooling over that copy ever since that "gray tone" thread awhile back. I was wondering if someone here was going to pick it up. As huge fan of old school "Rapier and Raygun" style science fiction, let me just say:
  18. Here's laugh: Somebody's actually got a VG+ copy listed on CLINK with no pic for $200! I guess the seller is hoping that someone who's not paying close attention will get trigger-happy and hit the BIN thinking it's a Frazetta issue.
  19. The Short Bus seemed like an appropriate place to post this "forgotten" Buck Rogers cover, Famous Funnies 217. This book is notable, not because of what it is, but because of what it is not. This is the issue that was originally supposed to have the Frazetta cover that ultimately became Weird SF 29. Imagine - they rejected what is arguably one of the greatest covers ever and replaced it with this snoozer! All because of that brand new, little white rectangle in the URC.
  20. Same was true about the Single Series #20 I posted, but it fits here better than any other place. Same is true for the fabulous books you just posted. They are in the "spirit" of this thread. Absolutely. There is always overlap and gray areas with these artificial "eras" we create decades after the fact.
  21. That is an awesome cover! Who's the artist?
