  1. Someone was swapping lower grade books into higher grade slabs, reholdering them, along with submitting the higher grade books for grading. Double profiting. someone caught on when they did the mark jeweler 9.8s, found out it is fraud by spotting the lower grade books in the 9.8 holders, then a video and post was made on the boards about it. CGC found out and posted a statement afterwards. something like that in a nut shell.
  2. CGC knows they will profit from this. There will be a mass reholder submission when it’s changed. Then
  3. I store my long box of Action Comics #1’s in storage, guess I’d better move them to the basement like ole Church did.
  4. Why is the label separate from the comic, who designed this??????? Wasn’t the old style holder sealed with the label attached to prevent tampering with the grade? How is the new holder an improvement? I watched the video on 9.9s Insta and couldn’t believe how the label is separate
  5. Announced by CGC Mike in comics general a few hours ago. It’s a sticky post.
  6. I was thinking this works, but, what about a pre and post reholder image? How can you really tell if that is the book they accepted and is actually the grade it was pre? We would need imaging service to maintain all images for that book for each submission. If that makes sense?
  7. He/she sealed their fate with those MJ’s as we know those are nearly impossible or impossible to find in 9.8 White.
  8. Just because it is a flawless wrap in your eyes doesn’t mean it is a 9.9, or 10.0. IMO what gives these 2 grades are how the front and rear covers are cut when produced. I believe they use a template that measures how square cut either side is, if cut correct on the front or rear only, (1 side), then 9.9. If both front and back are cut accurately then 10.0. I am only guessing
  9. IMO, rather than hurt their rep. 90% chance it will be an announcement that changes are being made to the reholder service to sweep it under the rug. Possible outcome - A grader will now look over every reholder to confirm accuracy. Which I thought was already supposed to be in play, but who knows with the plaque of issues in QA.
  10. I think CGC has the entire list of affected books submitted by this Bree, Brees, whatever their name is. Every submission has all the certs. Not sure if they will disclose this, or just suck it up and change the way reholder service is done on a more strict standard.
  11. Yes, 2 different names. One is Bree and one is Brees. 2 different addresses as well. @THE_BEYONDER @VintageComics
  12. So this person is cracking slabs, swapping books, then subbing for the ole “custom label reholder” to fool CGC into thinking this is just a reholder for one, and that is all they want. Most or all of these auctions have custom labels. I am leaning towards a sonic welder to swap the book, and either they are really good at cracking the slab and resealing it, they have connections to a supplier, or someone at CGC.
  13. He/she is selling their books on IG thru dealers as well. Grailz had a few listings a while back. Not sure if any sales were done.
