  1. The area is poor and the hotel is very bad. I wish Veteri would hold this in a better location, at the very least to allow for the possibility of a fun weekend trip with the wife.
  2. You posted you sold 95% of your collection and aren't buying anything more b/c prices are too high... so why are you here if you are not sharing your art or participating in the hobby? You can always doom post about the economy on Twitter or Reddit, if you so choose.
  3. I love the page but that stain is rough... makes me wonder why HA hasn't offered its own OA art restoration service... think a lot of sellers would go for it to correct smaller issues
  4. Someone I trust a lot in this hobby told me a story about a single piece of art being exchanged for a house (!) in Malibu years ago. I don't know whether a thread has ever been started for this purpose, but I would love to hear about some of these crazier transactions -- maybe even one you did!
  5. The attached page (in Comic Connect's next auction) is one I have been looking for for a long time, but it is badly yellowed... can restoration fix this? Appreciate any thoughts
  6. I've thought about this quite a bit... Jim has the ability to see the meta data HA collects every day on every auction... he can see who every bidder is, how many times that bidder views the auction, how many non-bidders are viewing or tracking the auction, etc. All of this is a gigantic advantage over the rest of us, because it is real, actionable data which allows one to predict bidding behavior and pricing. Jim seems like a nice guy, but his involvement in his own auctions just feels corrupt to me.
  7. Same for Peanuts... two auctions in a row with prices firmly below $25K for a daily would be telling
  8. Kirby did 26 strips serializing The Black Hole film, perhaps the darkest sci fi film I saw in theaters when I was a kid! Two strips are out there on CAF but I have never seen the rest.... if you have one you are willing to part with, please let me know!! No Paypal IRS nonsense... happy to pay cash to you for art by the King! Thanks!
  9. None of this smells right, at all. I dislike the fact that people refer to him as "the most influential person in our hobby," considering his influence consists of a conflict of interest directly tied to his own compensation.
  10. 15+ years ago I contacted them about a page and they quoted me a price 100% over market. I called and talked to Steve about the price and he told me, "It will be worth twice that in a few years." I liked it so much I bought the page anyway... and yes, Steve was proven right on the pricing a few years later. To me they are are similar to the sellers on American Pickers -- all really nice folks, but psychologically attached to their possessions, so much so they make parting with those possessions as hard as possible. I wish I could buy more of their art, but understand the psychology and don't hold it against them.
  11. Sold in 2020 for 7800, same issue pages since then have sold on HA for 10-15k... would seem a good lock for 15k+. The top half of that page is wonderful Hulk art and I'm not even a traditional Trimpe fan!
  12. Thanks for the help all. I actually emailed Itoya and pinged them about this... they would have the market cornered if they sold a landscape 22x8 portfolio!
  13. How does everyone store comic strip art (roughly 20" x 6")? I cannot find anyone making a portfolio, mylar or archival envelopes for this size. I tried my largest Itoya (18x24), but hate how the art slides around inside.
  14. Shaping up to be a great Kirby auction... a lot of variety in titles and inkers! Love the Eternals battle page... great moody Jane page... and then there is this Hercules page! I am excited!
