I think the massive glare off of most the wall books made the cameraman pass by those booths without stopping much. The other merchandise could be videoed much better. Trust me there are A LOT of comics in that room.

Yeah, filming and even trying to SEE books was tough thanks to the glare - add the fact that a lot of dealers had their books in old, wrinkled bags and it became a game of "what issue is that? how much?" every 10 seconds.

But yes, LOTS of dealers, LOTS of comics and LOTS of...weapons? What was with all the sword, knife and light saber vendors?

Anybody else go to this show? Would really like to hear your observations.

Was there on Friday as well - was shocked to get parking right at the convention center at 11:15am. Talk about dead!

The Washington guys above got me for a couple of books - yes, the pricing was crazy, raws-for-slabbed pricing, but I was tired of searching for a high grade Dark Shadows #1. They did a bit of a discount when asked.

But yeah, some of the dealers really need a new calendar. It ain't 2021 anymore.

When she made that post the plan was always to archive it after several days.  The main reason behind the post was to apologize to anyone at C2E2 who didn't get a copy.  The idea was to leave the post up long enough to give people enough time to read/react and we also attempted/failed to correct some of the misinformation floating around on social media.

    But why take it down?

I posted this in 2 threads.  So far, 1 person has sent me some info.  I was hoping to have several to send the QC manager.  I can copy text from threads but, with no submission numbers, we will not be able to tell who tell who has handled the books, and correct any problem that may be occurring.  Pictures aren't required.

    Hi, Mike -

I would love to do this, unfortunately, the two batches of submissions that had all of these issues are more than six months old and I cannot access them via the portal. After those, I held off on submitting Moderns for a few months. I will say, my last submissions did not have these issues any longer (phantom finger bends).

  5. Jumping in to see I'm glad this is being brought up. I have specific examples...

This new "finger bends" trend seems to be happening more with books that have stiffer cardboard covers. I purchased multiple Marvel Clasico foil variants that came in three-packs. Opened the pack, carefully inspected the books (with gloves) - no bends whatsoever, no fingerprints, no color breaks.

All submitted came back 9.0-9.2, all with "finger bends" and "fingerprints".

These books absolutely DID NOT have those when they arrived at Sarasota.

Kinda begs the question of what is going to happen to the Mile High inventory when Chuck passes away.  Even if he has heirs that can afford to keep the store going with it's large overhead costs, one would think that it would be rare to find someone who can also afford the "I don't like to sell my inventory" philosophy.

Chuck discussed his succession plan (or lack thereof) with us here:
