  1. Spring break meets, comic advertising!? Has anyone seen this before? https://item.mercari.com/gl/m90898742196?sv=0 Looks like a 1982 issue of Hulk v Batman. Must of been in those heady days, prior to bankruptcy in the mid-90s. Some back story found here: https://youtu.be/Pp3se7jmT9M?si=uB49OHmFyy4SlTuF
  2. Question, do we get fine dinning discounts with this membership card?
  3. This one has everything going for it in storytelling, but is a rough customer otherwise. Silver Aged (1964). Staples are sound and no rust, but staple tears to cover, blunted corners, color breaking creases/bends, small hole through cover FBRC, tanning, etc.
  4. Wow! What a nice piece! I like how the paneling and use of distance almost make him jump through time! Very detailed too. So cool! Working on this Wolvy at the moment. Just a rough in at the moment. I'll prob try to ink it, see what happens ? Curious his lower jaw seems missing, which I can't unsee now. 😁
  5. Great covers in this thread! Norman Rockwell-esk really Not sure if these are 'Pulpy' enough for the Pulp club, but definitely risque or fun loving nonetheless.
  6. A couple of free hand drawings, each about an hour or two.
  7. I draw from comic images in my free time, whatever strikes me as a challenge or whose style or imagery seems unique or unforgettable. It has me thinking. . .is there a single comic panel that stands above all the rest for you? There are iconic artists and covers, but what about THE iconic storyline moment for you in all of comics? Share images if you have one. One that comes to mind for me is from the BPRD Hell on Earth series and Johann Kraus.
  8. For those creators out there, Todd McFather has a drawing contest throughout Jan that could see your submitted work published on a cover later this year. https://twitter.com/Todd_McFarlane/status/1740871252485517435?lang=en
  9. Thanks! Your justifications make sense and seem to match the grade descriptions. Sending two more photos on the areas you called out. Staples look clean and to your credit there may be a very slight tear on edge of back cover. I wonder if I could see an 8-8.5 with a clean and press? @joeypost Happy to have it either way.
  10. I found this on the bottom of a stack during an antiquing expedition. I notice light color breaking at spine and bindery tears at top and bottom corners. Comic seems new inside, is flat, and presents well. Appreciate your grade and some elaboration on what you think draws the grade down and if pressed and clean what the max grade might be. Thanks!
  11. There were several. I grabbed a few based on condition.
  12. Confirmed! Mr Payette recognized the book image and reiterated it was a sequencing the owner used and changed regularly on the face of the books. Thanks all!
  13. Just found his web site and thought to share it. Impressive catalog of books! http://www.jamespayettecomics.com/
  14. That's very interesting! Thanks for sharing. They ended up in a Half Price Books store in NE still in relatively good condition.
  15. Anyone know what these markings could mean? They look to be replaced as the book moved around. Maybe a zip code or country code, but a quick search shows that might put you on an island in the middle of the Pacific!
  16. Any tips for removing price tags placed directly on the face/cover of a comic (hair dryer + patience or ?) AND the resulting sticky residue that is inevitably left behind?
  17. That's cool. It would be nice to have your actual comic images and a condition rating with filters for era, condition range. For instance looking for Bronze Age rated 9.0 and above, etc
  18. Like Tinder for comics? Good idea. 😁 Just looking for a way to share collection lists with each other and came up with this for now. Saves posting individual issues or searching want lists, etc
  19. I was a fan of Sergio's from back in his Mad magazine margin work, always left you smiling with Seinfeld-ian humor on common day follies.
  20. Sharing a list of my ever changing comic collection should you want to thumb through this 'virtual longbox' out of curiosity or just pure boredom. Not all items are for sale, but if you see something that could be on your want list or could complete a run feel free to PM. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vRJOyHI5OtD8Lttws4SYkyqAmkPBhBjXL5oT5YDyCHaE4ZEpRYuZ30RETjgjzs_QXV6YV87rl7a3Iji/pubhtml
  21. Found this Rob Zombie The Nail issue for 50¢
  22. Found these DC's Mark Jewelers in my collection
  23. I'd be interested in other opinions, but there was a lower number of issues created and they are no longer made which makes them less common and in the right market they will be valued more, especially key stories or titles (X-Men). That Joe Fixit might be a 2x to 4x the price compared to its direct or newsstand copy. More common issues might see a small boost in value but can be comparable to a Newsstand.
  24. Interesting! I didn't realize that was Alex Ross either, very clean covers though. I read it and the story was open ended, but my go to source was not reporting a #2. Thanks for solving that mystery for me.
