  1. From the album: Australian golden (and a few silver) age comics

This huge comic was made by rebinding unsold returns. Like the EC annual comics, the result was that the contents varied from copy to copy. I'm very happy that mine has two full Silver Starr stories - 55 pages of Stan Pitt's beautiful artwork
  2. Yes, there were 70 in the first series, with the first 12 and #37 up being in the normal portrait format. The first 20 didn't have the classics illustrated banner. https://www.comics.org/series/30821/covers/ https://www.comics.org/series/30822/covers/ Then there were many, many reprints, like everywhere else.
  3. Bit of a change of pace today. A first print Australian Classics Illustrated. #23 in the series - the first 30-odd were landscape format. When I was about 8 my dad took us kids to the drive-in movies to see the Disney 20k Leagues film. There is one scene I really remember vividly, so there was no question as to what the UTC for this book would be. #tentaclegoodness
  4. Just got this landscape format Australian book. #23 in the series and the first local printing.
  5. They do, yes. And those prison outfits suit them.
  6. Agreed - I had it at 5.0 But I really overgraded the HOM. I had it at 9.2 - musta missed something.
  7. If it's a Rob Liefeld book, then that would be appropriate...
  8. clean And, yes, I'm serious. https://www.lifehacker.com.au/2013/01/deodorise-practically-anything-with-kitty-litter/
  9. Put it in a plastic box with cat litter for a while, and see how that works.
  10. It would be a 0.5 blue label with the notation INCOMPLETE and notes about what's missing. The alternative is a green qualified label, but I'm not sure they do them for books of such low qualified grade.
  11. Oh, that 34... here I was thinking that was pretty warm for 5AM, and that it must have been a stinking hot day! #notCelcius
  12. Little known fact: Archie was a very keen collector of telephone handsets. At least I think that's what's going on there!
  13. Brilliant book Corey! Now on my ever-expanding want list.
  14. Don't know how I missed this thread. The Blue Bolt is wonderful! Any chance of a scan of it? It's not in the Ausreprints gallery https://ausreprints.net/cover/series/3029/0/1/200/50
  15. Love your dedication to the arcana of pence copies. And I would totally buy "Fightin' Nurses".
  16. Haven't updated here for a while, but I haven't added much to the boxes lately either. There are some nice things winging their way towards me at the moment, but for now you'll have to put up with this. I've posted it on the GA boards, but it's cool enough to get a run on my journal. I've had Archie 50 envy for a few years now, and I'd checked the Australian printings on the GCD and Ausreprints, but neither of them had #14, which turns out to be...
  17. Wow - that B&B really got hammered. And I guess CGC took a dimmer view of the top edge of the cap than I did. At least they got the other two about right.
  18. Wow, lucky to scrape into OT with a 37. In previous years I lost with a high score. This year I survive with a low one! Good luck in the playoff @eeb03!
