  1. Great Frank! I thought prices were pretty good for buyers yesterday. The #19 and #40 in my 'group shot' were from that auction. I wish I'd got the #21 as well, but I was the underbidder on that one. What did you get? (Hope we weren't bidding against each other!)
  2. We appreciate the risks you take on our behalf Harry! And at least this reader is much more than indifferent. That just seems to be the way of it in the journals. Unless you aren't very good at selling comics, of course.
  3. I reached the 80% mark of WDC&S 1-100 today. In celebration (and thanks again to Frank for the idea), here's a virtual group shot of the 28 books I have in the 1-48 run.Plenty of work still to do though. And the Aussie dollar mightn't help...

  5. You call that a knife? THIS is a knife... oh, wait, it's a hook.
  6. From a skeleton with a mace to a skeleton with a sword
  7. Super Cat to a Super Rabbit (paging Corey)
  8. From one Australian 8d GA reprint to another
  9. (nice copy!) From Albert with Pogo to Pogo with Albert (and Merry Christmas)
  10. Great group shot Frank. When I got to 50% of the 1-100 run I tried a group shot, but it was hard to arrange. The stairs help a lot - just wish I had some. Here's a virtual group shot I put together of my #49-100 copies. I'll do the earlier ones when I get a chance.
  11. Belated thanks to Ed and Corey for the kind words above. And to Apostrophe Guy for the words above. Here's my latest pickup - only temporarily in my hands because Mrs AJD actually bought this for me for Christmas. ( ) She really likes the Planets, as well as my Peanuts and Pogo books... I'm seeing an alliterative pattern here. I've bought very Australian Planet I've seen for sale in the past 20 months. I have 5 of 24. I'm thinking this could take a while... It's interesting to compare the Australian edition with Planet #58 (not mine - just from the interwebs): For some reason the local publisher has crudely removed the visible (and anotomically dubious) arm bones from the image. I can only guess that it was censorship... but why?
  12. I have a couple - this war bonds cover: and one of the Frazetta covers:
  13. From one group of overperforming children in WW2 to another:
  14. From a comic about magic to a Magic Comic:
  15. I gave all my Australian Rules Football Scanlens cards to my brother last year. He took on our father's collection of turn of the (20th) century and later cigarette cards, and is the 'cardie' in the family. I wish I'd kept a few scans to show here, but I stole this one from eBay: This 'woodgrain TV set' look are the first cards I remember collecting as a kid, back in 1967. The reverse of the card is part of a larger image that the 72 cards in the set made up. The picture is an action shot from the 1966 grand Final (= Superbowl equivalent). I used to love making up the big picture!
  16. The inner completist decided he had a view about gropup shots as well, so here are the last 7 of my 143 EC comics. I decided I like this group shot thing, so I might do a few more from my collection. And to answer your question Duffbloke, this is my only copy of Extra, and it's such a dull read (despite a very cool cover) that it will be the only one. Are M.D. and Psychoanalysis worth a read?
