  1. Ummm... Mickey Mouse, anyone? I would wager that the vast majority of muggles don't know Mickey Mouse (or Donald Duck) is still in a comic book. Fair enough - but that's not what you said. BTW - where did that panel in your sig come from?
  2. Ummm... Mickey Mouse, anyone?
  3. The Archie is this one: The WDC&S was a bit harder. White 'Walt' with a yellow (probably) 'Disney' and something that comes to a point under the 'W'. The Dell logo is in a coloured box with saturation similar to the main cover colour - probably red and blue. There aren't actually too many of those combos to choose from, and the only one around the right time is this one: I think there is something else sitting on top of the WDC&S to produce that pointy bit. Note that the film stock has reversed the relative darkness of red and blue on both books. Of course, it's just possible that I'm over-analysing this.
  4. Indeed she was. My dog is a tall leggy blonde, named... Jeannie, of course.
  5. I have midgrade copies of two of those and wish I had more. Yours are stunning!
  6. Great book. Only guy missing is Stalin He was on our side. BTW - that's a very pretty 5.0 !
  7. Yes, I've got a couple of Heritage books that are much less bright in hand.
  8. I've read that WDC&S peaked at around 3,000,000 in the first half of the 1950s. The USA population at the time was 150,000,000 - which means that 2% of the population bought a copy (and probably two or three times that number read it).
  9. It could happen. Here are the others. Ouch! Some great recent posts guys - this is such a great thread. I'm still trying to work out how to catch Doohickmabob's OCD.
  10. I think it would be cool to own WDC&S 1-100. This will be a long-term project with a few diversions along the way, but here's where it stands today. Those of you who know the run will spot that I own precisely none of the hard or expensive books. Oh well...
  11. After a few excursions from my usual focus this year, I think 2011 is going to be a duck year. (That's the plan - it will not survive contact with the sales forum...) Here's a couple of warm-up books to round off 2010's acquisitions:
  12. That is a wonderfully helpful post. Thanks so much for taking the effort.
  13. Wow - that has to be the ultimate group shot! What great lot of comics - those pictures made me wish I could sit down and start reading them. Some iconic covers, some instantly recognisable characters, classic movies (Rod Taylor in the Time Machine anyone?) and some very obscure titles. Just great, great stuff.
  14. Scrooge, that is one great pile of comics. Good luck with the chase for the rest!
  15. Nope - I'm cash limited and those ones would require $ needed elsewhere. I'm looking for midgrade copies with good eye appeal. Nice 6.5s would be perfect (and would go with my others). I stand back and admire the 8+ copies from afar.
  16. Wow - that's a great start to a duck collection David.
  17. Great books Count - those sorts of covers are what the GA is all about.
  18. Great work Bill - that's a long run to go after. How long did it take? Oh, and if I count correctly, it would be #80.
  19. I was tracking this one. Thought it might be a barometer of what effect the weak dollar is going to have on the Duck auction this week. I think this is a sign of some strong results coming. $100 under guide. It is nice to be able to spend my money as USD though.
  20. It's been a while, but thanks to Heritage this week:
  21. Nice! Any Rangers 15 is a good 15. Pretty tough book in my estimation. And a really cool cover. How did these young ladies find themselves in such predicaments? (And how do their dresses defy gravity to keep them decent?) Enquiring minds want to know!
  22. That's some very fine collecting there...
