  1. Don't see a lot of GA funny animals in this thread... so here's one. I've been looking for one of these for a while.
  2. I think these belong here. I've decided that I really like the comics code EC titles. They certainly tried some interesting ideas. This Extra! #4 has a cool cover, almost like an early Adventure - but the stories are a touch flat. Aces High, on the other hand, is every bit as good as the pre-code war. This is #2. (Thanks, doohickmabob)
  3. I took a punt and bought this on ebay. A 3.5 sold for $203 on Heritage last month and I got this for a bit over half that. I might look to upgrade some time, but this one has nice deep colors and is really tight. The guy said 'medium to dark tan pages' but at worst it's Cr/OW?? So for now it's dancing banana time...
  4. Great Disneys Ameri1941. Love those early Mickeys. (thumbs u Oh, and make sure you check out the 'Show us your ducks' thread.
  5. I hope you burrowed through them like a gopher, dived through them like a porpoise and threw them up and let them hit you on the head.
  6. Great books Jon. The Lily Rene Planet cover in the bottom row looks wonderful. You don't need all of the books in the top row though. PM me and I'll explain which ones you could usefully let go.
  7. Hi there Threeseas - welcome to the duck thread! Sometimes I think those classic Scrooge comics should look a little worn. I know the Australian reprints I grew up with were loved almost to death.
  8. I picked up this odd little item at a flea market. It's a publication (that's kind of overstating its production values though) by an anarchist organisation - can you say 'oxymoron' boys and girls - in New Zealand. I think it's extracts from the 1970s book here . Basically it's a Marxist rant about the interaction between the ducks and the peoples of developing or third world countries. While they kind of have a point to make, the ranty tone wears thin really fast. And the last few pages are headed 'How to deal with the magical San Pedro cactus' and is about extracting mescalin from peyote cacti. Instructions include heating a beaker containing sodium hydroxide and benzine. Kids, don't try this at home!
  9. That's such a great cover. Some of the Dells of that time are beautifully done. Nice pickup Jon.
  10. That looks great. Can she do one of the great pie fight in Scrooge 5? I'll see what I can do. That would be cool... I think she's eyeing the serpent in Terror of the River at the moment.
  11. From my daughter for father's day. Acrylic on canvas and awaiting matting and framing. I'll try to get a better photo - this one is a bit washed out, but the colours in real life look great.
  12. That's a great start on a duck collection!
  13. Hi guys. It's been a while since I had something to show off here, but I think this is a pretty good way to come back. But first credit to the boardie who got me looking for these. Many moons ago in this thread I recall that someone showed off a VP1. The ciorac said 'you know what goes well with one of them... one of these (CP1)'. Well Bill, you were right. It took me a while to find the right quality/price combo on them both (and I lucked out on eBay with the VP - about 25% of guide). But they do go great together. Thanks for the tip. (thumbs u
  14. Patience works wonders with those Four Color books because there's a lot of them out there. I think I bid on and lost about a dozen, then I got a lovely 6.5 for $140 on ebay last year. Now I just have to find FC 189, 199 and 238 in the right combo of price and eye appeal...
  15. No, but I wish I'd had the cash to bid on the WDC&S 46 9.4 - it went for about 25% less than last sale. War bonds cover.
  16. Hi guys, it's been a while, but I've finally added another duck to the collection. Just picked this up in this week's Heritage auction. (This is Heritage's pic, but I I'm very happy and wanted to show it off. I'll post a group shot with other Dell giants when I physically get the book.) At the start of the year I wrote out a top 10 books to go after. This is the sixth seventh I've picked up. (You can see the others in my sig.)
  17. Wow - that Lone Ranger 76 3.0 is a stunner. Where do I line up for 3.0s of that calibre?
  18. And a great one to start with! (thumbs u
  19. Thanks once again to Point Five for a great transaction. A wonderful Weird Science Fantasy to my door in Australia in five days! Thanks Jon! May there be a 'Tec 35 in your near future.
  20. I'm a big fan. One day I'll get some of those early MMMs with a long-billed Donald. I really enjoy the early Gottfredson MM strips with the irascible and long-beaked DD too.
  21. Dell patriotic covers from 1942. Don't they look great together? (If anyone can help, I'd really like a nice Animal Comics #9 to go with these)
  22. Lil' Hiawatha is Disney's contribution to the genre. Earliest appearance I can find is WDC&S 28.
  23. Yep - that's the production defect I mentioned.
