And much. much bigger! I'm not sure what's going on in that picture...

Yeah, there's no doubt that some of the publishers were really pushing the limits. I'm not at all surprised that they got into trouble.

i never saw that CPR technique from behind before ??
I'm not sure what he's doing, but the oxygen mask suggests the guy is breathing, and you don't do CPR in that case.

a nice EC short run that i have thought about getting a set of...
You should - they are pretty solid books, especially if you have an interest in medical science. You realise how far we've come in a relatively short time.

Condition looks pretty nice on this AJD. I must check your GA notebook out when I have the chance!
Yes, it looks pretty nice... after all, it was "near mint" on ebay!

It's the cover from #113 in the original FH run.

Looks like a good run to collect do you have number one?. Is it expensive.?
No I don't have a #1. A VGish copy sold for $650 recently - expensive enough for me not to have won it! Great cover though - have a look at it in the GCD:

never seen or heard of this title but it looks good !
It was an Australian only title. John Dixon did a lot of comic work, but is best remembered for a long-running strip he created - Airhawk. You can see some of it here. https://issuu.com/comicoz/docs/airhawkcyberspaceintroductionpromotional

nice shape 5.0 ish i like his ray gun.....
I wish! 3.0 apparent when you have it in hand. Amateur CT along the fairly abraded spine. But, yes, the ray gun, GGA, rocket and alien all compensate for the grade!

Superb cover! Were there any other Picto-Fiction titles?
Four of them, though they were all two or three issues only. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Entertaining_Comics_publications#Picto-Fiction

What year is it from ? a quarter was pretty pricey back in the 50's
1955/56 The contents are more like an illustrated story than a true comic. it was one of the failed ways that Bill Gaines tried to circumvent the code. In truth, it's not a successful exercise in terms of satisfying reading, and I suspect the price certainly didn't help the commercial side.

Had a copy of this one myself, but had to sell it for $$$ to buy more comics Lol. Great cover. a classic.
If only comics were free. You shouldn't have to sell great comics to get other great comics.

I can totally get why Planet comics are so popular. MUst be some of the best covers ever!!!!
Especially in the last 10-15 of the run, though there are plenty of nice ones earlier too. This one is a corker.
-
Agreed. Have you seen the photo it was based on?

Fantastic!
Yeah, isn't it great? Had to have it. Ghost Rider #1 gets all the love, but this isn't far behind.

Guessing that's a variation on cane toad golf?

John Wayne?
I'd say so. When I posted this in my journal I imagined a CGC annotation "Bondage cover. John Wayne slapping some dude".

Yep. She seems nice.

Yeah, the landscape format works for battle scenes. It would be much harder to make this fit in a portrait format.
