  1. I'm not a big Batman fan but I couldn't resist the opportunity to acquire this iconic cover with White pages and Pedigree.
  2. Great buy. Can you explain what a printers track is? Thanks for the compliments ! I probably have the wrong term but it's something like that. It's a light impression in a very straight line with a little width, maybe 1/8 inch.Something in the printing process itself, probably from the rollers. It may have happened while they were calibrating the machine, one of the first off the line. That would explain the bright, wet looking inks.
  3. Another example from Wizard World where I bought the book and not the grade. Incredible freshness, bleeding inks, and nicely centered. I think I see the flaw holding it down, a light printer's track only visible at an angle.
  4. While attending Wizard World I came across a dealer who had 4 slabbed copies of Avengers 57. Grades of 9.2,9.0,8.0, and 7.5 . I swear, in hand, the 7.5 looked the best, absolutely perfect centering. Resisting the inclination to buy the highest , I bought the book, not the grade......
  5. I had to step up to the plate to obtain this copy, courtesy of Bedrock City.
  6. You're right. I think a 2K price on the Boards would have been scooped up in record time. The Boards love the latest hot books.
  7. I see a sale price of 17,327.50 for the book ? Sold for: $17,327.50 (includes BP Buyer's Premium )
  8. Wow, just wow. What a gorgeous book. Congrats.
  9. Excellent submission but did you notice the date on the label of the Flash 123 ?
  10. I seem to remember you posted this in a PGM thread. If so, what was the concensus ?
  11. That is a great looking 9.0 based on the FC. What is keeping it down? Very light dust shadow, the spine tics and some NCB's. Book looks like a 9.2 with a CPR, but I'm probably going to leave as is, since its a personal book. Don't want to risk the WP. That's a great looking book, congrats. I concur, don't mess with the White Pages designation. If it's a keeper, leave it alone.
  12. Nice copy. I really like this book, white pages to boot ! Congrats.
  13. Let me be the first Boardie to say Johnny is a top notch seller. Great communication throughout the transaction, book was shipped promptly and packaged well. All is good here. I highly recommend Johnny and I am looking forward to more purchases.
  14. I don't think they are looking for individual statistical examples as much as a consensus that it is okay to bump Pre-Hero. They just bumped Spawn but they won't bump us . Come on gang, just say something in the 'these scores need fixin' thread. DO it now!
  15. Gang, no response, no help, no one cares about the registry points ? We are not going to get a bump in points unless I get some help. Fellow Pre-Hero collectors, we've suffered a major setback in our attempt to get more registry points. Cheetah posted the following point against an increase... 'The registry gives low points for all mid and low grades. Points seldom match the price. I think tripling the points for 3.0 would result in a ten-fold increase for a 9.8. I think the pre-hero Marvels have been bumped three times in the last few years. I'm not saying they don't warrant more points, just that they've already seen a lot of increases and doubling or tripling them value you them in excess of other similarly valued titles.' Gemma acknowledged his point and stated...... 'Correct, there is a standard formula for the scoring, so if the score is increased for the lower grades it will affect the higher grades exponentially. I'm taking notes of all of this but will hold off to make the changes for a bit to make sure there is a general consensus.' At this point, I'm not sure what to do other than to ask everyone to post their feelings in the 'these scores need fixin thread' Link above. (shrug)

  17. (thumbs u Anyone else ? The more support the better.
  18. Fellow Pre-Hero Collectors, FYI, I just put the following into the "These Scores need fixing" thread to get a boost for Pre-Hero Marvel registry points. Wish me(us) luck ! http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=6839780#Post6839780
  19. You are misquoting PeeWee. He said many of the zero bidders on large transactions are not 'real' ....NOT, as you quoted, simply bidders on high value transactions. Big difference.
  20. I didn't realize that, interesting. I realize that 0 feedback buyers need to start somewhere but I think most of us build up some small purchases first. I know I did that many moons ago when I wanted to sell a few things but first made about 10 purchases with positive feedback. Let's see if these LEGO purchases go through.
