  1. Thanks PeeWee. Now, what about damage control ? Does the current high bidder get notified he is now the high bidder ? What about the other bidders that may have walked away in discouragement ? At least there are still a few days left in the auction to recover. Kudos to Sparklecity for checking into this.
  2. Thank You. For anyone interested, the website Myslabbedcomics.com is a great place to visit and/or display your collection.
  3. Good job PeeWee ! Still, whether legitimate or not, I think SC should ban him. His newbie strategy of immediately outbidding everyone is annoying. It's not fair to the consignor as I think legitimate bidders will walk away. What's the upside to letting him bid ? You are just unhappy because you do not want to compete with them (or would not if you were involved in the auction). Bottom line, you cannot argue that someone should be banned just because they are not bidding consistent with what you consider "good" strategy. For the record, my comments were not made for self serving reasons, I have no horse in this race = I do not need another copy of BB28. I am not being critical of his bidding strategy alone, only when it is combined with zero feedback. It gives the appearance of shilling and scares away bidders.

  5. I have to comment on the current bidding for this item. There is a 0 feedback bidder that is bent on having the highest bid. Sparklecity is probably the best comic dealer on E-Bay and their integrity is beyond reproach. But the actions of this 0 feedback bidder will undoubtedly raise some controversy. I wish this bidder would go away. I agree BB but SC normally does a background check on zero or low bidders (I questioned one before). That's good to hear. Still, it has to be discouraging to bidders to see this going on. The strategy of this zero feedback bidder is to immediately outbid everyone that bids. If I were bidding, I would walk away. I cannot see how this will benefit the consignor.

  7. link? http://boards.collectors-society.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=6802762#Post6802762 Yeesh. He's also got the PP 3%, and prices 25% above his own quoted GPA. This seller really annoyed me when I saw his sales tactics. Quoting GPA on raw books is bad enough but his grading was terrible. He was giving a 9.4, highest graded, to a book with the BC coupon filled in. I can't believe somebody actually bought a book from this guy. Action 258 9.4 last gpa 9.2 for $1005 this would be highest graded my price $1344
  8. This BB28 environment reminds me of the Showcase 22 environment a few years ago. Lots of SC22's came out of the woodwork but not many in a grade above 6.0. I suspect the same here. Long before CGC and the movies, BB28 and SC22 were always tough to find in grade. This isn't a case like GL76, where high grade copies aplenty came out of the closets. I just don't think it will happen.
  9. Regarding that recent sale May sale, it was a Heritage item. The book had CR/OW pages and the cover was covered in funky mildew spots = not an attractive book. Still it garnered nearly 9K. Your 'premium' of 10K for an attractive book with Off White/White pages would probably not be taken seriously by the Seller.
  10. I just checked some of my newer books and I see these indentions on all of them. Interesting that it is only on the back of the inner well, the front seems fine. Some of the indentions are larger, spread out more, and some more concentrated. However, IMO, they appear harmless . I don't see them forming lasting impressions. I think SCS is a far worse threat to our comics in slabs. The often used wedge in the inner well puts pressure on the comics and nobody stresses about them. I just don't see cause for concern, sorry.
  11. My vote would be Wonder Woman 105, 04/59, where she received a new origin.
  12. That looks like some sort of reprint. There's no price on it ?
  13. Thank you, much appreciated. Most were submitted by me from my personal raw collection.
  14. One of my favorites, tough black cover.
  15. This Twin Cities copy looks awesome in hand.
  16. After winning the 107 on Saturday I was considering chasing the 109 on Sunday but I have a nice raw copy so I passed, no bids. It wasn't me !
  17. Been looking for a nice copy of this book forever....
  18. I'm very happy about this pickup from the Heritage Auction. These early Flash in high grade/nice pages are tough to find. I've been looking forever !
