  1. As always, Bradley finds time to help us with questions, much appreciated ! However, the 'rules' on this stuff can get confusing and I am still confused. Per your statement above, why is this not graded 0.5 ???? This is the PGX Universal 4.5 from another thread. If PGX gave it a 4.5, it can't be a mid high grade book, pages are missing, why isn't it a 0.5 ?
  2. It sounds like he would get a Qualified grade as the book is already signed. I don't think it's worth submitting.
  3. This is a situation where more Newton Rings would help. Unfortunately, there is hardly any, just a clear view of all that scraping.
  4. I didn't think today's youth even knows who Zeppelin and the Beatles are ?
  5. Though I am not familiar with what you you are referring to, it is obvious that someone has some serious dislike for the company. You can just feel it oozing from the screen. I don't like threads like this where a 1st time poster comes on with a beef. In the interest of fair play, I hope this thread dies quickly. Someone post some porn and get this thing locked up !
  6. Really tough to comment on these 'spots' without seeing the book in hand. Anything is possible. The inner well has been known to 'catch' foreign items before. I often wondered what happens when a Grader has a sudden sneeze ! After onsite grading, I once had a cookie crumb inside the inner well. I begged them to fix it right away (they did) because I knew the crumb would have oil that may touch the comic. I'm sure CGC will ask you to send the book in for inspection. Call them on Monday. Good Luck.
  7. Crazy. I have a CIS Collectibles Policy and you have to schedule anything over 5K. I just scheduled my 9.2 copy .
  8. Just a heads up, if your case is cracked enough that CGC has concern about the integrity of the grade, they may have to regrade your book. They usually get concerned if a post is cracked. Your question was already answered above = you will get a new label.
  9. Has anyone noticed the OP has not come back to this thread at all ? With all this debate it would be interesting to hear more facts from him. For all we know he may not be initiating any claims.
  10. Just today, I opened an old label CGC slab and had the same result. I wasn't even trying to preserve the case but with a slight twist of a flat head screwdriver I popped two posts with no cracks, clean. The inner well opened without using scissors, just peeled right off. Before the latest design, CGC slabs weren't any better either.
  11. That is a legitimate example of a stamp but we are talking about date stamps in this thread. I don't think a store stamp would be downgraded unless it was too large or in a bad location. Date stamps are interesting because they take us to a specific point in time. The store stamp, not so much. Just cheap advertising.
  12. A new slab or new regrading would add absolutely no extra value to the book. It would be a complete waste of money.
  13. No, why would you even consider this ? I suspect a prank is at play here !
  14. As a collector, I hate seeing CT removed by scraping it off. These CT scrapes never look vintage and it is very obvious what happened to it. It looks terrible. It saddens me that this is all about money and no consideration for the book. Everybody else is cheering you on so I'm sure you are happy with your decision.
  15. Well, if it's already NM, why do you need to press it ? I stand by my previous statement, this is too valuable a book to chance it. BTW, no matter what the rep, or anybody else tells you, if you submit this for pressing, and damage occurs, this is on you. Also, I don't think you are supposed to 'wipe' finger prints off, they only smear. You need to dab.
  16. RMA, I'm not saying this statement doesn't have some merit, but there's just no way the community will accept it. The current 'norm' is no returns on 3rd party graded, let alone opened 3rd party graded. If accepted, sellers would be vulnerable to all sorts of shenanigans. As was previously mentioned, the transactional chain has to end at some point. It would put the big auction houses out of business. They have to pay their consignors and cannot be accepting returns months after the fact. I do hope the OP lets us know the outcome. It could change our world as we know it.
  17. Unless you make some arrangement with a CGC to rep to meet you outside, which I don't think is possible, yes you have to pay to go back in. Minimally, I would have someone drop you off and wait in the car, thus saving parking fees. The negative to all this is, there is no guarantee CGC will be finished with your books when you show up. It sometimes happens that they don't even finish by the end of the weekend. The higher the tier you submit in, the greater chance it will be done in a timely manner. BTW, I understand about your concerns to ship. Good Luck. Let us know how it turns out.
  18. Agreed, professional should be a clean removal. I was thinking of the CT scrape in my comments.
  19. Interesting tidbit, the OP claimed he paid 4,300 for the book. The item I found, and I do believe it is the same book, sold in an auction environment for 4,700 . I just like to see ALL the facts presented accurately. Puzzling.
