  1. In case there's other Old Guys out there, the new Giant Size Overstreet is no longer spiral bound. I don't like it. It has the look and feel of a telephone directory .
  2. From the looks of the Back Cover, I suspect there is some heavy tanning on the inside. If so, I am going 4.0 . No tanning or very light, then I concur with 4.5 .
  3. The OP is the same guy who likes PGX and recommends using their pressing services. He is clearly offering us sensible advice. 'Yeah, I understand why you wouldn't trust PGX, I do and I'd be fine with it, but I understand. To each is own, eh?' 'I realize y'all hate PGX since we're on the CGC boards, but you can just get it pressed by them for about no more than $100 if you add additional fees. So... expensive???'
  4. From his own pics, I think this is the REAL Before and After pressing with an iron.
  5. HaHa ! In this case, I do not want to help this guy at all.I don't really care if he wants to ruin his own comics but what scares me is that he may put this stuff into the marketplace. And his final comment.. 'Next time you think about sending a book to get pressed, check out this post, and feel free to inquire of any details on how to do this.' really scares me. Does he really think he is doing a community service here ? Does he really believe he can do better work with an iron then a professional presser ?
  6. Better yet, before you iron, cover the comic with a wet towel and put it in the microwave, kind of like you are steaming vegetables !
  7. Sorry but I do not see anything of significant value. Depending on condition, most look like they would all be in the 1.00 - 5.00 range.
  8. The problem with including a note, of any sort, with the comic is it cannot travel with the comic through the process. In all honesty, it probably gets tossed by Receiving.
  9. They are in San Diego this week = less staff in the office. This is absolutely the worst time to submit. You are correct, there is a possibility of a very large spread here if they are backed up in the encapsulation area. Anything guestimate we can offer would be just that, a pure guess.
  10. Unless something has changed, if USPS issues you a refund, they keep the book. This is true whether you are the seller or buyer. Also, I don't think they issue partial refunds/you keep the book scenarios either. I think you are correct, the seller is not trying to run a scam here but he is having you do HIS work. He is taking advantage of you. Get a refund directly from him, including the cost of shipping back to him.
  11. It will cost you a lot more than 12.00 to get the book reholdered. You have to factor in the shipping back and forth. Also, if the slab is damaged, they will inspect the book. If the integrity of the grade is compromised you will have to pay for grading and receive a lower grade. This is not the approach you want to take. The seller is taking advantage of you. here. This is his responsibility to fix it, not yours. You should out the seller's name here to prevent someone else from buying from him. Sorry this happened to you but don't make it worse by letting the seller take advantage of you. This is not normal procedure.
  12. Unless it's an interesting label error of some sort, I would never come on here to do a show and tell on a QC mistake. It's ridiculous to think CGC is not supposed to make any errors. They are great about rectifying their errors, which is the important thing.
  13. Did you contact the seller yet ? I don't understand why you filed the USPS claim, I think the seller is supposed to file the claim. Ask for your money back plus shipping back to him.
  14. I'm not sure what you thought you read but nobody, not one poster, suggested to not disclose the stain. Disclosure of the stain was always in play. The only 'debate' was to slab it or sell it raw. Regarding the grade, in this situation, it is difficult to ascertain. Ultimately, he did put a grade range.
  15. Excellent selections. Great copies with lots of eye appeal. Love the Page Qualities on both. I'm a believer that nice page quality is a reflection of the book's preservation and freshness. Your copies back my belief. Congrats !!!!
  16. I'm pretty sure I read where you can combine but at least one item has to be a min of 119.00 .
