  1. Yup. Even there, the detail in Perez’s pencils is just incredible.
  2. To me, those examples are a bit disorienting and headache-inducing.
  3. Great artist, but a somewhat hyperbolic statement from him. In that era you also had Jean Giraud / Moebius and Frank Miller, as other contenders for that accolade. Sure there are others.
  4. A tie purely as illustrators. Both have superb if quite different styles. Byrne’s the far superior all-rounder writer / artist, responsible for more of my favourite runs of comics than Perez.
  5. I agree. I still recall getting some copies of Pow and Fantastic from a little second hand shop down the road from where I lived, around the time of MWOM and when I'd started buying distributed American comics from the newsagent. No free gifts though.
  6. He's got a Judge Dredd scowl there.
  7. I’d be tempted to give it a try, but I’m too attention deficient to focus continuously for that long at the cinema. Well, anywhere, really.
  8. Odin is cosmic level. Not that you'd be able to figure that out if you watched him in the films.
  9. I also noticed that Neal Adams started putting more scratchy linework in his art as well back then.
  10. Lots of tiny speckles and creases match up. Too many details. Sorry to see this.
  11. There’s also the Epic Collection option, which has some Silver Age volumes such as Sgt Fury and Thor in colour.
  12. I thought the same thing. Personal preference, but I like reading these larger runs rather than switching between individual issues of different titles, to see the character development and interlinking between the stories. Much more complex narrative in Bronze Age material, but Lee had this approach at a simple level in some of the Silver books as well, more so than DCs at the time.
  13. Ditko did some superb art at Charlton. Enough to get me to buy all of Fantagraphics' Ditko Archives collections.
  14. I've got stuff from years ago on the pile.
  15. I’d say he’s extremely resilient rather than invulnerable, otherwise Doomsday wouldn’t have been able to kill him.
  16. CGC also states 'hidden profanity on cover' on the slab label.
  17. The artist on the recent issues, Jason Shawn Alexander, is really good.
  18. Guardians of the Galaxy 1 Captain America Winter Soldier Avengers Infinity War Avengers Endgame Thor Ragnarok
  19. Logan Watchmen Blade 2 Hellboy 2 Dredd Batman Begins Batman vs Superman : Dawn Of Justice Ultimate Edition / Director's Cut Deadpool / Deadpool 2 Batman : Complete Animated Series Man of Steel X-Men 2 X-Men : Days of Future Past
  20. That's the one I posted in a "covers with hands" thread. For that genre, it's a classic.
  21. Yup. He's now thought to be deliberately holding back 'a bit' when fighting with mortals. You don't often see his full-on power level in the comics.
  22. Unable to finish the film originally because of a personal tragedy, but terrific news now to learn that we'll finally be able to see his version at last. A far too unfairly-maligned director. Really looking forward to it.
