  1. Hitting Adamantium. The holes look as brown as the shirt. Very tough material not to get ripped open.
  2. Then, there's the loss of Lady Pamela a few issues later.
  3. I originally gave this place a try after someone pointed it out to me at a UK comic mart. Soon after I joined in 2008, I'd be quite enthusiastic about the boards in the two comic shops I went to, on-and-off over the following two years until I stopped buying new comics. Nothing but complete disinterest.
  4. I’d already used their Magic Man song, so I left this for someone else. I’m not greedy.
  5. Some comic publishers do allow you to do a DRM-free physical backup copy.
  6. There are some good modern comics. As well as moderns in digital format, I've also bought volumes containing the 40s and 50s work of Ditko, Kubert, Krigstein, Meskin, Williamson and Frazetta. Very happy with the presentation, and the ease of access to expensive and difficult-to-find stories.
  7. I’ve turned into a very sedentary collector, but it’s my resolution to get more exercise and be far more active this year.
  8. I found it dated even as a kid in the late 70s. The world changed very quickly.
  9. And, because the song lyrics and live performance are about avariciousness...
  10. I have a room containing my comic boxes. Once it reached capacity, I stopped buying physical copies. Being clinically OCD, I dread becoming someone who has piles of hoarded books stacked high all over the house, and so that was my limit. At least I can continue accumulating my reading material digitally.
  11. I thought he was absolutely superb.
  12. Yup. A vampire version of the character would be interesting and tragic. Morbius could be his mentor.
  13. I didn't realise it had finished. I had a couple of years off from my attempts to attain last place and the accolade of being the contest's most inept grader, but never quite made it. You only miss the opportunities when they're finally gone. Very sad news indeed.
  14. If only they’d do covers like that rather than with the primitive lenticular technique. The Dr Strange gif is quite hypnotic.
  15. I probably wouldn’t go to Fantagraphics first of all, as a lot of their output is very left field. There are exceptions such as Love and Rockets, which is still excellent, and, especially for me, Jaime Hernandez’s work. Image would be an easier starting point as a stepping stone away from DC and Marvel for someone who’s stated they’re a fan of Claremont and Miller.
  16. What seems especially weird is that it looks like he’s done a hit-and-run on a seal. Don’t see many of them in suburbia.
  17. Image publish many really good comics by top writers such as Morrison, Millar, Vaughan, Cates, Ellis, Hickman, Remender, Kirkman, Gillen, Fraction, Brubaker. Definitely worth checking out.
  18. The further adventures of Kite-Man will be missed.
  19. Yup. Pretty much anything by Hickman at Marvel; Infinity, Fantastic Four as well. Ms Marvel (Kamala Khan) Doomsday Clock (Watchmen 2) Immortal Hulk Thanos by Lemire and Cates Saga
  20. I was thinking about the upcoming show and that it might seem too similar to Joker, regarding psychosis. I did quote and highlight too much of the post to make that clear, though.
  21. After the recent Joker film, the timing for this is quite bad. Jeff Lemire’s a good writer.
  22. For me, the most interesting aspect is his Dissociative Identity Disorder (multiple personalities), and then the consistently excellent art from Sienkiewicz, evolving from his earlier Adams-influenced style in Hulk Magazine through to the more distorted and abstract later work. Moench’s stories were consistently good if not really that exceptional. That said, not a character or reading material that I get too excited about. I’m unfamiliar with the more recent modern era series, and perhaps they improved on the stories from the Bronze and Copper Ages which I’m referencing here and created new and enthusiastic fans of the character in the process, in parallel with the obvious speculation, nostalgic or otherwise?
