  1. It's a complete mess, and yet, at the same time, an impressive collection of signatures.
  2. I didn’t think much of Ellis’ X-Men stories. Stormwatch was better. Then again, that was effectively his prequel to The Authority.
  3. Yup. The 90s is my least favourite decade for X-Men. I never go back and read anything from that period.
  4. It's a fantastic page, especially taking the price into account. - Spider-Man in action, web slinging through the city. - Nice full-figure panel in the trees. - Changing back to Peter Parker. For me, with all that going on, it doesn't deserve any negativity.
  5. Great report, Steve. I would’ve been disappointed with the meagre comics content. Better weather too than the flooded northwest here.
  6. Probably more than 20 pages. You should have a look at a copy of Fogel's Underground Comix Price Guide. It's quite fascinating, and considered as significant as Overstreet in its specialist field.
  7. Sounds very interesting. Multiverse of Madness suggests it'll be surreal parallel dimensions, which I hope will have the same level of imagination shown in the Ditko homages of the first film, rather than ones with parallel earths very similar to our own, as with the recent Spider-Man releases, and, hopefully, we'll get to see Nightmare at last. After all, it was stated that it's the first scary Marvel Studios film.
  8. Hopefully they'll make the wings and flight more convincing this time with a higher CGI budget. I wasn't particularly impressed with the JSA episodes of Smallville or with Legends of Tomorrow.
  9. Looking through a Wiki list to remind me about the series I thought were among the best ones ... 100 Bullets American Vampire DMZ Fables Flex Mentallo Global Frequency Hellblazer The Invisibles Pride of Baghdad Punk Rock Jesus Sandman Sandman Mystery Theatre Scalped Shade the Changing Man Sheriff of Babylon Transmetropolitan We3 Y the Last Man
  10. More of a spin doctor for the secondary market than a flipper. Similar desired end effect, though.
  11. I’ve always been confused about the point at which the change in status occurs. Basically the same activity.
  12. Issue 175. Not just a cover, but the start of a new direction for the material inside DC’s horror / suspense titles. Nice cover on 174, but old school reprint material inside. For me, the most noticeable transition is in 178 with Neal Adams’ first interior story art.
  13. Learned something today, that Capra Aegagrus is a posh term for goat.
  14. It's been a very hot day here, and clearly I've stopped paying attention.
  15. The OP used the word 'plonker'. This is common slang here in the UK. Not aware of it being used much stateside. I could be wrong.
  16. No 'moon landing was faked' type of conspiracy theory here. Old comics actually are that expensive now. Partially, and ironically enough for the OP, flippers are to blame to some extent.
  17. Yup. Their shininess is strangely hypnotic. Try lenticular covers as well for some variety, and to spread your investment portfolio a bit.
  18. He was in Ant-Man and the Wasp, last year. Also, the leader of Agents of Atlas, and The Atlas Foundation in the comics, making him head of one of the most powerful organisations in the Marvel Universe. The film version needs a lot of work to live up to that. The Jeff Parker and Gabriel Hardman comics are great.
  19. One positive observation about Chuck; he's certainly had a very, very interesting, colourful and varied life, despite all the neurotic hypochondria and age-related crisis talk in his reports.
  20. Yup. I concur. I thought the same thing at first glance. Although, the comic logo in the 90s was quite similar...
  21. Jason Aaron's Thor is one of my favourite modern runs, so very interested to see if they can make this film work. Fairly easy CGI to make Jane Foster look bigger and more imposing as Thor. I'd be surprised if Waititi included the prominent terminal illness component of the comics saga, although that theme was present in Guardians of the Galaxy, and, like James Gunn, he can mix light and dark well.
  22. Hopefully, something along the lines of Blade 2. Great news. One of my favourite characters.
  23. I’ve always liked both of them because of their contrast; Byrne’s then modern 80s style vs Ordway’s Golden Age homage, and both being top artists from that decade. The colours of the Ordway cover can look richer and more vibrant.
  24. I particularly like the Watchmen Director’s Cut and the Batman vs Superman Ultimate Edition. An unfairly maligned director.
  25. Fluctuating mood can affect your filter on what’s appropriate and how much restraint you have. I quite frequently post something and then, when my mood changes, look at it again soon after (I’m rapid cycling) and believe that it’s trite or unnecessarily vitriolic and then remove the post by hiding it. That’s also a bit perfectionist and OCD. So, understandable that someone else might have a much longer period of making posts that, once in a different mood, they might then consider to be over-the-top and inappropriate, regret and want to apologise for.
