  1. Missed that. Not paying attention.
  2. Andy Capp is an old British newspaper strip.
  3. I’ve never had any really significant break from comics in 40 + years. My focus has changed at times; original copies to reprint hardcovers and trade paperbacks to digital, but always a mix of old and new material. At present I’m just reading.
  4. Extremely typical of what you'd see in British book exchanges back in the 70s and 80s. I thought we'd moved beyond it, though, certainly in specialist comic shops.
  5. Yup. This carnage is extremely distressing to look at.
  6. I actually thought you meant much earlier, right after the film adaptation...
  7. The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi adaptations had nice Al Williamson artwork, and issue 38 some nice Michael Golden artwork, but, generally, the new stories and art were quite mediocre and phoned-in at best. Quite inessential as a run.
  8. I was finding it far more interesting to think about, and a bit different.
  9. Aren't we just doing interior panels in this thread, for a change?
  10. The Count can't even visit London and leave on a nice, relaxing sea cruise without some Limey hero spoiling it for him.
  11. J.M. DeMatteis is one of the best Spider-Man writers. I like a lot of his work.
  12. I always thought he was just very softly-spoken. That said, you would expect a brown bear to be much more aggressive. Regardless of his orientation, I wouldn't risk having anything ursine in the Tardis, just in case he had a sudden temper tantrum, although it would be interesting to watch him dismember a Cyberman in an unexpected, out-of-character berserker rage. Certainly much better than anything we've seen in the current series, so far.
  13. A fair point. This does actually make sense, plot wise. The politically correct Team Tardis is still missing a gay character, and this oversight could be corrected here by recruiting Tinky Winky.
  14. Quite the opposite nurturing effect to many here. As a 70s Bronze Age kid I loved reading the DC 100 pagers, which contained stories from as far back as the start of the Golden Age, and I developed an interest in and have always collected material from all Ages.
  15. I always thought Beta Ray Bill was a terrible name, no better than Paste Pot Pete, but you don't see anywhere near as much negativity.
  16. There was an improvement in the latest episode, I thought, from complete toss to unmemorable sub-mediocrity.
