  1. I'd recommend getting the Showcase Jonah Hex trade paperbacks. As well as consistently good writing from him, lots of nice DeZuniga and Garcia-Lopez artwork. One of the best Spectre writers, returning the character to what suits him the most; being a very dark spirit of vengeance. Sad news.
  2. One of my longtime favourite videogame series; Tomb Raider 1, 2, Legend, Anniversary, Underworld, and the rebooted Tomb Raider, upon which the new film is based. The films were extremely boring on TV, and I've no interest in watching another live-action version.
  3. The bottom staple in particular looks a bit dodgy to me. I'll pass.
  4. My excuse is that I enjoyed J M DeMatteis' writing on Spider-Man.
  5. Blade’s always been one of my favourite characters since the 70s, despite being featured in only a small number of books back then. Tomb of Dracula is one of my favourite BA titles, and there was something quite sad about his background / origin story. Also, the comics version is British. Guillermo del Toro’s Blade 2 is one of my all-time favourite super-hero films, placing it in my top 10 in the rankings thread in Comics General. Backtracking, the first Blade film was really impressive for its time, and an indicator that we were clearly developing the tech / CGI processes to realise comic books convincingly on-screen. Really hard to separate my Tomb Of Dracula 10 9.6 from my Batman 251 9.4. Two of my most treasured slabs, and I’d be very, very reluctant to let go of either.
  6. I'm a big Neal Adams fan, but, for me, the two books couldn't be more different in terms of appeal. I can live without the Adams cover on 227, but, to me, 251 is an absolutely superb, key Adams book with classic artwork and a significant story; the psychopathic characterisation of The Joker. Tomb Of Dracula 10 vs Batman 251 would've been a much tougher decision. Actually, I'd probably have given up.
  7. That's a bit on the strong side, similar to Carlsberg Special Brew or Kestrel Super Strength over here. Canadian Fighting Beer. Apocalyptic, judging from the label.
  8. Genuine congrats. I'm happy to have got things going for you, which culminated in a well-deserved accolade. We also got a very interesting history about the word 'effin', as well. A highly productive and educational thread.
  9. Tomb of Dracula 10. One of my all-time favourite characters, his first appearance, versus a comic with a nice homage cover, mediocre interior art and an insignificant story. Easy decision.
  10. This is quite nice. A strongish, pilsner-type beer. Great for those who are gluten-intolerant, as I am.
  11. I bought the digital version of the Panther's Rage Epic Collection to read last weekend. Excellent story. You have good taste. I only found a couple of random issues back in the 70s, never looked for any others after that, and, for me, the story is really too long and densely-written to get into properly unless you have the whole run.
  12. Yup. It shows how times have changed. There's no need for bad language in a childrens' comic book. I'm assuming that 'efen' is an American, regional variant.
  13. If Electro had a beer, wouldn't he short circuit himself?
  14. Impressed to hear Rush's 'Tom Sawyer' blasting out of an IMAX audio system during a good bit of the UK trailer, shown before Black Panther.
  15. Extending that further, Paul Verhoeven's Robocop could be included, as he's basically a cyborg version of Judge Dredd. Great film, as well.
  16. No particular order... - Logan - Dredd - Watchmen Director's Cut - Captain America : Winter Soldier - Batman Begins - Blade 2 - Guardians of the Galaxy - The Incredibles - X-Men : First Class - Spider-Man 2
  17. I'm that cynical. Once the rest of the world is provided with the opportunity to use Wakandan tech and Vibranium, it'll quickly be weaponised. Regardless of ethnicity, too many angry, frustrated, radicalised, self-serving, power-obsessed people out there for T'Challa's final decision to be anything but naive : from my perspective, anyway.
  18. I read 'Panther's Rage' over the last weekend in the digital Epic Collection. An excellent, underrated Don McGregor story. That said, be prepared for some extremely florid, over-descriptive writing if you're unfamiliar with his style.
  19. On an IMAX screen, the background characters in the first challenge scene were especially fake-looking.
  20. I was expecting some Steel Panther.
  21. If the shop was in a university area, and its customers were primarily comicbook-reading dental students from a nearby school, that's the only scenario I can think of where you'd have a consistent and accurate pronunciation of Amalgam.
  22. Some of the Amalgam issues had good stories and art , but, as to be expected, overall somewhat patchy. I picked all of my copies up, months after release, in 50p boxes at comic marts.
  23. I'm on a roll ! I still like the first one.
