  1. I only had this pair. Mid-seventies, IIRC, and the first time I read the early Lee / Ditko Spideys in colour. Possibly a British copy, although this kind of book did get imported here. Fond memories - I recall how much I enjoyed the stories, and thanks for posting.
  2. Frazetta cover + Joe Kubert interior art would be a good choice for a wide range of genres; super-hero, western, war, horror, science-fiction, crime, sword-and-sorcery.
  3. One of the first to PM me, as well, soon after I joined.
  4. The hazing when I joined was predatory and brutal. I still recall that Saturday, when the wolf pack attacked, angered by my arrogant, upstart use of polysyllabic words after only a mere and, unlucky for me, 13 posts here.
  5. Good choice. That would be a great 80s combination. I was in the process of thinking about a Dave Stevens cover with Jaime Hernandez interior art for an indie book.
  6. Yup. That's the one. Classic, Joe Kubert Hawkman. Surreal villain.
  7. The issue also has the Molten Man-Thing. Interesting mash-up there. To me, the alien just looks and behaves like DC’s Shadow Thief, with TOS 7 being the first of the two to use the idea. Interesting that the room it’s captured in resembles a Tardis.
  8. Yup. "Please do all the hard work for me" threads.
  9. Just think about that level of dopamine boosting overload Make it a 100.
  10. I wonder if he’s had a couple of Fighting Beers?
  11. A single use of in a post that actually contains meaningful words doesn’t count, of course.
  12. At least you're not padding it out with graemlins.
  13. I'm in my mid-fifties. Don't count me out yet.
  14. My favourite GA reading material is, by far, The Spirit, especially Eisner’s post-war sections. A second, also elevated to Olympus, is Jack Cole’s Plastic Man; slapstick but also quite dark at times too, with great stories and astonishingly-gifted cartooning. Characters alone, I’d say my favourites are The Spectre and Dr Fate from their earlier, darkest period in More Fun Comics.
  15. The artwork in Night Nurse is actually quite nice. Win Mortimer.
  16. Joking apart, it’s easy for me to understand Eccleston because he’s originally from only a few miles down the road from here, even though my accent’s quite different to his. I also get that his accent might be relatively difficult for some, and why they’d have wanted him to try something posh or received. It’ll be interesting to hear more of the new Doctor’s, as we didn’t get much during the regeneration.
  17. Yup. Two with easy-to-understand northern English accents. Both sensible choices.
  18. Could be extreme shaken slab syndrome. A very hard knock while in transit tearing the cover away from the staples.
