A book I’ve always found quite disturbing is issue 8 of Kirby's Eternals series. There’s a scene where the most extremely-mutated Deviants are being transported in Death Wagons to be exterminated in a furnace, and, I always assumed the worst here, while still alive. There’s something extremely sad about how defeated they look in there; demonised for no actual fault of their own, simply the helpless victims of a desperate eugenics policy. Let’s not get into the quite obvious, real world, historical parallels.

It did all go somewhat adrift after his great, consistent run. The short Walter Simonson run and the "new FF" story drawn by Arthur Adams are about all I remember from that period.

I always thought his song 'Happiness' was an exercise in innuendo, judging from the lyrics. God, I'm so old now.

I've only watched the first season so far, which is excellent throughout.

Avengers 4 is one of my favourite Silver Age books and features the revival of one of my favourite characters. However, it does rely on the team, just by dumb luck, happening to be patrolling underwater in a submarine in that particular region of the Arctic, just after Cap's been thrown in the water by his Timely ally, the Submariner. Nonetheless, it's a powerful reintroduction, and the second half of the issue can't match that and is a very mundane read in comparison.

Sounds like a classic Water Glass / metal silicate crystal garden. As a young science nerd, I used to like those.

The final page of issue 122 is also quite poignant, and gives MJ's character more depth.

If that's about my Tec 27 post, then it's a shame you don't get irony or know anything much about Bob Kane's career progression.

Some superb Joe Kubert art in those issues, at least. Classic rendition, never bettered.

This story really polarises, from those who think it's one of the worst ever issues of ASM to others like us who find it extremely affecting.

I've always valued my ASM 90 more than my ASM 121 for that reason. Both are great books, of course.

Yup. Classic Weird Science story about a misunderstood little mutant girl.
