  1. Aren't there basically many collectors, especially newer, greener ones, who will buy on the basis of the grade sticker and not the book presentation? Let him keep it, and the book is likely to turn up elsewhere with better presentation from someone who, from your perspective, has better-matched social skills. I don't think this is a new phenomenon. I've had worse experiences.
  2. At least it's good to see one of my favourites from the Jon Pertwee era back tomorrow night.
  3. As a Playstation gamer, I never really bothered thinking about this character before, Marcus Fenix. The protagonist of X-Box's Gears of War series. Clearly separated at birth.
  4. Same character. For example, at least two comics interpretations of REH’s classic ‘Tower of the Elephant’; Roy Thomas at Marvel and Kurt Busiek at Dark Horse (originally).
  5. Possibly, in my case, shellshock inflicted by previous sales has created a protective sense of numbness and apathy. I'm so far below this level that it's pointless and impractical for me to care about it, really.
  6. For FPS games I tend to stick to demons from hell or parallel universe Nazis, where self-defence is justifiable. And cathartic.
  7. A painful post for me to read, as I managed to damage my 9.6 copy beyond repair, one bought for a similar price, while moving stuff around for a bit of house renovation last year. It made me realise I'm useless at looking after a large collection, and was the event which also made me decide to quit buying physical copy comic books. That's why I'm always going on here about the merits of digital. I also don't read or participate in the Bronze Age threads now, too depressing.
  8. This small British chain sells a lot of manga, and has done for a couple of decades... https://travellingman.com/collections/frontpage https://travellingman.com/collections/manga?page=1 So, success with it is possible.
  9. For me, funny if it was about someone still alive. A graded, plastic-entombed corpse, not so much. I’m not that dark. I suppose I’m actually in the middle ground on this one.
  10. It’s always going to be frustrating and sad for any of us that aren’t inflexible, ruthless, predatory cutthroats. Oil and water.
  11. He actually looked like that as well.. The ship did look cool, and intimidating.
  12. You'd be enveloped by the acrid smell and rough texture of raw newsprint, all around you. Some might find that too much, but many true fanboys would disagree.
  13. That's a great comic book. One of my favourite Silver Age DCs.
  14. I like the cover illustration. A mashup of Galactus with Captain America.
  15. At his worst, an android, alien super genius with a complete disregard for any organic life, there to serve his needs, at most. The original version mimicked human emotions to ingratiate himself with the Coluans, but the robotic-looking 80s version was stone-cold emotionless. Both, however, were focused on tyrannical, planetary domination.
  16. It's a shame, because Brainiac's a great character, and a lot could be done with him on-screen.
  17. Yup. I don't find it even remotely funny. Seeing as he's one of my comics icons, hardly surprising.
