But the art was horrendous. This is from memory I haven't read it in a long time. I hated Bill S's art from that period. It was like he was drawing with psychedelic crayons while on acid. Just weird stuff. A.K.A. innovative, ground-breaking, influential, genius... All that could be true. I won't argue it. However, I still didn't like it and didn't think it was suitable for a superhero comic. My opinion of his work from that period has changed slightly. I can appreciate it more now that I'm older but I still wouldn't say I'm a fan. It was great art. But, not for New Mutants. It was an artistic mismatch much like having Miller take over Power Pack would have been.

It absolutely can. She has more artistic talent than me, but I don't think she should be working for a big 2 and doing covers. Ok... so where's the argument? You said it can't be argued that it's badly drawn. I would say her style is badly drawn. I fully respect your opinion that you don't like her style - many don't. However it's not a critique demonstrating why her work is poor. As mentioned above, the cover is laid out well. The figures are anatomically well drawn, it has nice detail and a great colour scheme. It is by no means a bad cover. Exactly. I don't like Harley's face, either. It's a bit stylized and cartoony for my liking. That, however, is a question of style, and not artistic quality. Contrast that with the Darth Vader cover, where the hands are reversed on the character's weapon, and the blade is not even in the swing plane. THAT is badly drawn.

I like this cover... it's a funny cover, as it was intended to be. Conner's work isn't everyone's cup of tea, however it can't be argued that it's badly drawn like some of the others posted here. +1 It's laid out well, and tells a story consistent with the characters. Not liking a style doesn't equal bad cover.

I haven't seen any hypocrisy. He has essentially said two things: many books are being fuelled by hype and speculation, and, as a seller, he'd sell at this point. Just because he'd sell at elevated prices doesn't make him a hypocrite. It's not a business' job to provide a value judgement in pricing its wares, it's a business' job to sell its product at prevailing market value.

It's an old phenomenon: lowest print run books in a large crossover. There was a Scarlet Spider book that heated up a couple of years ago for the same reason. (SS 20?)

I'm not so sure. You had a 'computer error', cancelled orders, but still had books to sell at C2E2 for $60? More drama to come, is my guess. I don't think any orders have been canceled though. I thought only the guy who posted here had said anything about his order being canceled, and that was cleared up. You're saying he would be the only guy affected by the 'computer error', and contacted by JTC. That would be surprising.

I think there is resistance to preview books though I'm not sure why. I've seen this with Rat Queens, Wytches, and other short story previews. The herd doesn't appreciate them now. Looking at how popular reprints have become, I could see a change in this area in the future too. There's two kinds of previews. There's the DC Comics Presents 26 type, which is a unique story, and there's the recent Image type, which are short snippets from upcoming books. I think ambiguity has led people to assume most recent previews are type 2.

No, the character's been revised a million ways over 50 years. And every few years the writers re-examine these characters for the times in which they're NOW being written. Do you really want Bobby written as if this were still the early '60s? No. Except when it comes to his sexuality. Wonder why that is. Cheap shot. Give it a rest. Moot point, with Revat's clarification. But, there are certain things about people that don't change. I believe sexual orientation to be one of them. I believe gay people are aware of their orientation from the get go (can any of the gay board members chime in). I believe that when tomorrow's news break about Bruce Jenner you'd rethink that statement (thumbs u Not at all. Jenner has stated that he has always felt the way he does about himself. He was always uncomfortable with his gender identity. Let me put it to you this way: have you ever considered switching your sexual orientation? Ever considered gender reassignment, as Jenner has? Anyone here? Can you chip in again, dane? Have you ever met any other gay people who didn't always know the truth inside? Ever met anyone who said 'gee, you know, my life wasn't going so well, so I decided to change my sexual orientation'?

If your explanation is that "certain things" don't change (which, btw, no basis in reality) then tell us all the other things you've objected to equally when they changed over the past decades. In general, I object to the types of stories that are inconsistent with established character or storylines. In fact, the ones I've objected most to are in the Spider-Man universe. Stories like 'Sins of the Past' or the cocoon story, where Spidey emerged with spikes that come out of his wrists, are an absolute joke. Those, I actually object to more. The fact that this story is about the 16 year old Bobby, is somewhat consistent, as dane described earlier.
