  1. They should care. As they say in the stock market, don't fight the tape. they shouldnt It can be a bad generalization, sure. My basic point was that you can't dictate to the market what something 'should' be worth. The market will decide for itself. sorry, it was easier to quote you but i was responding to mrween. "they should care" "no they shouldnt" Ah, OK. (thumbs u It's certainly something that's had 30+ years to catch on, and hasn't. The newsstand/UPC copies are certainly less in number and grade, but have never gained any traction.
  2. Different strokes for different folks At times it's too sketchy for my liking. At other times, there's a Miller-esque shadowing that I love.

  5. This is the price trajectory I envision. Also, after four pages of back and forth about Crow vs WD, i've got to say I don't love the Crow analogy, but Ciara's point that comic and media properties can cool when the spotlight is off them is entirely valid.
  6. Hey, fingh. I got the Indiana Jones vibe from the book... with a dash of James Bond thrown in. I suppose it's just a matter of tastes. For example: I have a jones for post-apocalyptic stories, so I like Blackacre. That certainly doesn't go for everyone here. I asked because a lot of times I don't like first issues, but if the concept is good, sometimes it is worth coming back to. Most of the series that I really, really like, however (Planetary, MP, Fell, Goon) there is an instantaneous hook. I am ready for another book like MP. I really like Saga, but it is not quite there for me. However, with the huckster hype machine grinding away with 50 page threads before the first issues drops, it is hard to get any decent intel. Anything other than gushing reviews potentially hurts the resale value on the Phantom variant 20 issue pre-order. So you get a lot of "I don't know, I just really like it all. You know the whole feel is just, wow, hard to put in words." So, sorry to everyone about actually being underwhelmed with the first issue. I trust you will all pump enough vague, yet enthusiastic praise to keep those Ebay sales popping. (thumbs u This seems to be the latest popular insults to throw at members when the poster doesn't care for the book or series. God forbid others find a series fun or interesting. Back in the old days if you didn't like a comic series you just didn't participate in the thread but I suppose now we have to show everyone how awesome we are and poop all over their likes and good vibes. The insults go both ways. I suggested in the PP thread that prices on the book were likely to cool after the series ended. I also offered that I thought the BBC project wouldn't pan out. One poster suggested that posts like this might be from a sense of jealousy or regret at having missed the series. Another put me on ignore. I'm not sure... should we simply not post if we are underwhelmed by a series? Is there no room for a reasonable counter viewpoint? I thought fingh's initial post was pretty inoffensive. No, you can clearly state your opinions and I'll state mine. But when you get personal on my motives for posting in this thread or other like minded threads... well than you start a whole different discussion. Fair enough. (thumbs u BTW, love the website and the updates. Much appreciated!

  9. i think you mean "and stuff?"
  10. We have one store in the province that sells Phantoms at cover, and another that sells them at $10. I don't think pricing is mandated for retailers, so it varies.
  11. All these copper slabs. Definitely a tip down memory lane. Congrats if that's a Boardie. and
  12. And an Image First printing And a Previews. Maybe even a Comic Shop News?
  13. If you're having trouble following Saga, stay far away from anything written by Grant Morrison.
  14. I like the Ghost best. I may be the only one in that camp.
  15. The perception that the new 52 blows is part of it. I disagree with that assessment. Some of the new 52 is quite good, Justice League Dark being part of that goodness. Also, I'm not sure it's as definite either as an animated project or a live action project. It won't be a live action project any time before the regular JLA movie for certain. I've heard Del Toro speak about animating it, and as far as I know it's just in the discussion stages. He intends to follow it through unless there's some resistance or red light from WB and DC. It's a good read anyway and worthy of picking up even if it's got very little heat ATM. WRONG No fence sitting here.
  16. The problem with this line of thinking is that supply is only half of the equation.
  17. Not saying its official, but wouldn't the word from one of the creatives serve as a decent of enough gauge for the print run? The quote was "he believed" - that was my only query on the number. Hickman offered a similar estimate.
  18. He offered his opinion on a LCS. Big deal? It's not what you say, it's how you say it.
  19. Secret is dead, unless a miracle happens and the artist returns. I thought it had great potential.
  20. Give it a go. The story rounds out in three and four.
  21. So I guess you're just going to ignore my comments about the weather? -e.s. Eric Stephenson Publisher Image Comics,Inc. www.imagecomics.com No. Accounted for. It's the contradictory communication that would've worried me. The problem with situations like this is they get magnified on the internet, to where sides and battle lines are quickly drawn. I'm not being judgemental, just trying to offer that the OP certainly could've been worried. Looks like it's all resolved now, though.
  22. Which raises an interesting question: Does Hickman have to approve the variants?
