  1. Jason, welcome. You're the king of high grade Suzie's ... just the guy for this convo. Do you know what the deal is with that double cover designation on the Crippen 51? I bought it from you right? Yes, It is just a mistake. I should have had them reholder it but I got it onsite graded at a comic show and they wouldn't do it on the spot. Really nice copy. Some of the Crippens have some slight moisture, waviness to them that down grades them fairly significantly at CGC. This is one of those copies. I like them a lot because of their higher grade eye appeal. They did the same thing to another comic of mine at the time - this is also not a Double Cover:
  2. wow nice pick ups guys - I haven't been able to find any Suzie's recently to save my life!
  3. Does anyone have an image of that page/panel handy?
  4. If they are the right price: #1 - 1st full Invincible & Omni Man #2 - 1st Robot, Eve, and a bunch of others #5 - 1st full Allen #9 - 1st Monster Girl #11 & #12 - Fight with Omni Man #26 - 1st Oliver Keep a look out for the Noble Causes 3 Variant as well. Gets good money in the higher grades. Can't imagine the print run is very high. http://www.ebay.com/itm/291480324889?afsrc=1&rmvSB=true Thanks for pointing this one out. Been wanting a copy in 9.8 for a while and was the lucky winner. Don't really care about the regular cover, particularly since this variant cover has a cameo pic of Invincible on the cover. Love it. Cross this one off my list. No problem and nice snag! It doesn't come up that often in 9.8. I agree about the regular cover. Question for anyone that happens to know: Does Invincible appear inside the story as well? Or is the image on the variant cover the first cameo appearance alone?

  6. "A good business deal for all is determined when nobody walks away happy" Nice pickups! The Astonishing 13 is a decent reader, the Astonishing 4's best virtue is the cover image. Astonishing #4 is full of Everett art from cover to cover. It's nothing short of awesome imo. Story is a little wacky but the art is ridiculous.
  7. You're correct about rolling the dice. I was one of the bidders who took that chance. I have a really nice Jetta #5 but my 6 & 7 were a bit ragged. My ridiculously expensive #6 & #7 arrived from Italy today, thanks to express mail. The apparent tanning in the photos was thankfully a bit of an illusion. Here's my complete set with the two new additions. Hard to believe that these copies of #6 & 7 have been in Italy since the early 1950's. The colors on that #7 really pop - nice one!
  8. Nice artwork! I remember when HA auctioned some of the artwork. I just couldn't afford to bid on it. In hindsight, I wish that I had found a way. I think that the rising Jetta prices are impacted not only by their rarity but also the fact that the Craig Yoe book and the other reprints have really drawn attention to the series and increased its desirability substantially. Prior to the reprints, it seemed to be known only to a small group of DeCarlo collectors and Archie fans. Yeah, I bid but not nearly as strong as I should have. I agree with you about the reprints as it always helps to gain exposure but keep in mind, that book was put out 5 years ago (and the Heritage auction was 3 years ago). I think it has more to do with the DeCarlo market in general, especially material from the 50s and early 60s. It has been an under-appreciated market for years and collectors are starting to realize it. It's not just Jetta that is heating up, it's all DeCarlo covers from the era. Showgirls, My Girl Pearl, Irmas, Humorama pin-ups and Archie.
  9. Also, I was very lucky to have picked up 2 pieces of pure DeCarlo Jetta art. Only 4 of the interior stories weren't finished by Fred Eng or another, unidentified artist. I paid a pretty hefty price for these (much, much more than the complete story sold for on HA several years ago). http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1215049 http://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?piece=1213743
  10. I just finished my Jetta set this year as well. It took me years to find a #7, now they seem to be coming out of the woodwork with strong prices.
  11. Okay here is a picture... I just got a bunch of CGC slabs in the mail yesterday. wow - congrats on the Archie 48. I've always liked that cover too.
  12. I just got a couple of Archies back from the CGC... It was a nice surprise to get them as I had completely forgot about sending them ( value tier) Classic "Innuendo" cover, I think this one's a bit under-rated.
  13. Just re-read the description, he only made 50 of them. Wow, I had no idea what he was giving me.
  14. He only made 100 of them and most were destroyed. I don't think he ever alluded to it being the only one in existence though. I was an early fan and bought a lot of original art from him and he gave me a copy of the first printing about a year ago. (so lucky me! - I had no idea). So I know there are at least 2...
  15. Am I the only one freaking out about these sales? Raw copies. Current Image title. Selling for almost a grand. That has to be some kind of record. I know these are extremely rare printings but I didn't realize the demand would be there for this kind of price level. We're in top 10 or 20 modern territory here. I really wanted the 2nd printing as its the only printing I don't already have but it went for way more than I had even considered and I was out after the first days bidding. $860 for 1st Printing http://www.ebay.com/itm/271773639051?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT $760 for Second Printing. http://www.ebay.com/itm/271773669382?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT
  16. $860 for the 1st print and $760 for the second print. For an ungraded raw copy mind you. That is crazy, I never would have thought these books would be worth so much. It's up there with the most expensive moderns.
  17. Back up to $600 http://www.ebay.com/itm/271773639051?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Second Printing at $300 http://www.ebay.com/itm/271773669382?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT Still 4 days left on the auction as well.
