  1. This one is also a favorite of mine. Does anyone have a high grade copy of this book they can share a scan of? I've never seen a really nice one.
  2. This is my new favorite Archie cover!
  3. this is no longer my book but here it is.
  4. I just adore this cover, one of the under appreciated Archie "GGA" covers in my opinion. I mean - Archie dressed as Santa with Betty and Veronica on his lap. Very difficult to find in high grade (as far as I can tell). This is the best on the CGC census so far. I felt CGC was a little tough on the pq. I thought this book would get White pages all day long.
  5. I've had this book for a while but decided to send it in because of its grade. You don't see these very often in the NM or better range. The 9.6 grade makes this the single highest graded copy now.
  6. I'd been looking for a decent copy for years so I was giddy with excitement when I found out this was available. I'm still looking for a high grade copy but I can be patient and enjoy this one for now. I got a 47 as well but unfortunately it's pretty beat. It was still worth buying but not worth grading.
  7. This is an upgrade for me. This came from the raw collection that just recently came out on the boards a few months back. A near complete run of Top-Notch and I was lucky enough to snag a few books that I really needed/wanted. This is one of my favorite Suzie covers - I love the want ads on all of the Newspapers.
  8. I got a few of my books back from CGC today, finally! Here are my Archies from the batch: Archie #49 CGC 7.0 OW **Out of the 7 I sent in, this was 1 of 2 that I felt the book was a little undergraded. A really sharp copy. My wife bought this for me as gift raw and I think this is the first time someone bought me a comic book as a gift that I was genuinely impressed by.
  9. He's listed some other books that have his usual high prices. His pricing of these books is curious. yeah, I saw that go for a steal. They really under sold the Teenage Temptations #2 as well, in my opinion anyways.
  10. Is that from a Pedigree collection? gorgeous copy.
  11. I sold that a few years ago. I can't remember exactly. I think the 2010 GPA result is from when I originally bought the book and I didn't have it for long, maybe a year or so after that.
  12. I agree not a benchmark. I would be surprised if another 6.5 of either book sold for close to this amount. I am waiting for a solid Menace 5 to be auctioned through Sparklecity...I shudder to think where that auction ends up. By the time another 6.5 comes up for sale who knows It could be another 7 years before we find out. Menace #5 is my personal favorite comic book of any era or genre. I'd be excited to see a nice one come up for sale. Menace #5 is a great book (I don't have one) but I think the cover is "just OK" (though I do like it) compared to its contents. I do think a truly highgrade copy would fetch an impressive price realized nowadays, but perhaps not as much as other Atlas books with more "classic" covers (and of course that's in the eye of the beholder.) I am a fan of the cover - ZOMBIE emblazoned across it and a zombie rising from the earth - tough to beat. Plus the contents are excellent and of course it is a first appearance book, which is very, very rare for the pre-code Atlas horror genre (Menace 11 is the only other I can think of). Also, it may be the most difficult to locate of any of the key pre-code Atlas horror books...IMHO. I have only seen 2 for sale in the last 2 years one was a 1.0-1.5. I agree Johnny. I love the Everett cover personally. Obviously, if the Everett Zombie used in the story was featured on the cover - this book would be absolutely volatile, so I can see Originalisbest's point too. I've owned 3 copies of the book over the years. I had a 2.5, which I got certified myself. It was actually a really nice copy except it had a huge bug chew on the URC corner IIRC. Sold that unfortunately. I owned a CGC 6.5 with OWW which I REALLY regret selling. I think I got $800 for it. Killer example btw.
  13. I own two Baker Flamingo strips. Do you have these two or did you find some more? I picked up the scan from the auction site, I think. Apologies for poor quality of image: Those are great!
  14. Atlas horror in 6.0 or better has always been strong, IIRC Harley used to ask twice as much for a FN as he did a VG back in the nineties, and lately those gaps have gotten much wider, and when you have a book that isn't slabbed in high grade, it looks like bidders can drive the price into the stratosphere, where you have anything over 6.0 ( especially a nice looking one like the JIM) getting multiples over a VG that one would normally expect for a 9.2/9.4 copy. Still the JIM 6 price was pretty impressive, but I think the price is an outlier more than a benchmark. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the underbidders aren't a bit relieved that they lost out. One good thing to look forward to is that after seeing some of these prices realized, there might be more nice copies coming to market from some long time collectors. I'd love to see a high grade copy of Menace 11 come to market. 5.5 is currently top census but there have to be some high grade copies out there.

I'm glad I got my copy when I did - because now I simply couldn't afford to buy one.
  17. I've always loved this cover from Strange Tales. Another Bill Everett Classic imo.
  18. I agree, I think the JIM #6 Everett Cover blows away the cover on Strange Tales that sold for $2655. Both books do not have examples in 8.0 or better too. So the 6/7 range is pretty much the best you can find on this book.
  19. This is my favorite cover from the Planet run - great book Michael.
  20. Speaking of Menace #5. I never noticed that there were changes made for the 70s mag until I saw someones previous post of the story.
  21. whoa - nice pick up. Hughes published covers of this quality are not easy to come by!
