  1. That list is okay for Vancouver, but not close to the level the fans expect for Calgary.
  2. Ahem......where are the comic creator guests. Nobody cares about movie/tv stars......
  3. No. I can say that almost every co-worker/friend that saw it felt the same way. Sometimes early hype = unrealistic expectations which can't be met. I also think that the social significance depends on where you are located. Alberta is a relatively young province with a small population historically (estimated population of 165,000 in 1905 when it became an official province of Canada), and we did not have the history of racism towards African Americans that occurred in the USA. Instead, it was/is towards First Nations/Indigenous peoples. A blockbuster super hero film featuring a First Nations/Indigenous hero would be way more socially significant here.
  4. We all knew that Amber Heard >>>>> Johnny Depp long before this............
  5. 9.0-9.4 looks like it is plateauing a bit after the big run up last year.
  6. Still not sold on it personally, but I can see it appealing to younger audiences =
  7. Thanks. They are from a collection I picked up last August that I posted about here (halfway down page 47). This is the rest of the ASM run:
  8. So.....if the books were never circulated wouldn't the OO just be whichever mobster sold the warehouse full of them to Chuck?
  9. Any chance you can get Ron Perlman as well so both Hellboys are there?
  10. I just got these back from CGC and can play a couple of days of catch up now:
  11. Well, I had them in my $1/$2 boxes with no takers. I have seen them in other boxes at shows as well the past couple of years. A collection I snagged a couple of years back had 10-12 copies of it as the owner said he was speculating on it. Too bad he did not pick something better like ASM 300 or NM 98 instead.
  12. Awesome news that Hulk #377 is hot again. I landed a stack a couple of years back in a collection and they have sat in my $1/$2 boxes with no takers.
  13. It depends on who the director is and the story. Spider-Man 1 and 2 were great comic book movies since they had a good director, good stories, and an older Parker/Spider-man. The current pre-pubescent one is hit or miss (I am in the miss camp - still have not seen Homecoming).
  14. Maybe it is just finally moving to close the gap with HOS #92 CGC 9.8? HOUSE OF SECRETS #92 CGC 9.8 1971, 1ST SWAMP THING APPEARANCE! SOLD FOR $44,999 (3/2018) RECORD SALE PRICE! http://www.comiclink.com/auctions/item.asp?back=%2FComicTrack%2FAdmin%2FCL%2Fauctions.asp&id=1238490&next=%2FComicTrack%2FAdmin%2FCL%2Fauctions.asp
  15. So, he just walked down the hall to the DC Cinematic division and talked about New Gods and that sent speculators into a fury?
  16. While it will be nice to see this one possibly move forward, the movie everyone really wants to see back on the table is Black Cat/Silver Sable.
  17. There is a reason I left them off.......... I am still accumulating copies.
  18. I picked up a Hulk #181 CGC 7.0 later on that I sold in the fall for a profit. I am looking at a 9.4 this year now. On the flip side, I did time buying CGC 9.4 copies of ASM #129 CGC 9.4, GSX #1 CGC 9.4, TOD #10 and WWBN #32, well last year. It looks like the other BA Marvel keys are poised to pop this year on the coattails of Hulk #181.
  19. Last January I had a decision to make - Hulk #181 CGC 9.4 or Batman #181 CGC 9.0 + Detective #180 CGC 6.5 from Bob Storms. I went for the Bat/Tec combo since Hulk #181 had been relatively flat for a couple of years and I figured I had time to get a CGC 9.4 copy for the collection.
  20. Last July/August I snagged a Hulk #180 CGC 9.4 W for $1500 as a spec play to upgrade on the mid grade raw copy I already had in hand. I was debating whether I should go for another Hulk #181 at the time instead. I am not sure I made the right choice, but the 9.4 #180 looks way better than the copies of #181 I was considering.
  21. Looks like the mid grade prices are starting to jump now as collectors get priced out of the high end. This run up has also done well for Hulk #180 - CGC 9.4 copies in the $850 - $1000 range from last January will now cost $2K+ (last sale was $2450 but that looks like an outlier for now).
  22. I am not so sure it is overvalued. This year looks like it is shaping up to be a year where the rest of the BA keys spike after the run up in Hulk 181 prices last year. ASM 129 and GSX 1 have already started to move up nicely over the past three or so months, and other key BA books like HOS 92 should follow suit.
  23. I would not be surprised if the largest investors of the film were from China (individuals or corporate) and that they made releasing the film in China first a stipulation for their funding.
  24. 1st appearance of Blade in TOD #10 is still relatively cheap compared to most other movie-related Marvel BA keys. There is still time to pick up a few copies........
