  1. Here is a pic of the van parked at the Expo on Day 2. Not sure where Greg and Dave were at the moment.........
  2. Here is a note they had taped to the driver's window at the place they stayed at the show.
  3. There are going to be some very sorry people who get burned paying that much for 9.2 - 9.6 copies of SME #15 right now on the movie hype............
  4. Wow. That is a big opening day. Looks like the word of mouth and viewer reviews are great for this film in China as well. They may need to sign up Wan for the sequel (or a trilogy?) ASAP.
  5. We will see. I was not a huge fan of the decision to do this movie since Aquaman has been a 2nd or 3rd tier character for so long, but so far it looks like it will be a fun movie. Add in the James Wan effect, and I would not expect to see this surprise to the upside. The film I think that will disappoint the most of the big three live action releases is Bumblebee. After the Last Knight debacle the franchise has lost a lot of steam. I can see it paying the price if this is another bad film.
  6. Trust me, don’t go behind any warehouse with 500club Hey, now, it’s you guys who take customers at shows out to the van to ‘look at stock’. A couple of boardies have never been the same since they "worked out a deal" at the van this past Calgary Expo......
  7. Maybe, but that doesn't mean much today when the last issue came out over 35 years ago. Exactly my point. Nobody has cared about Shang-Chi since the end of that run until the potential movie announcements...........
  8. Shang Chi is on par with Iron Fist as a C level property - they can't maintain a comic title. Moon Knight is a C+ since there is actually a comic fan following that sustains it. Ghost Rider is a solid B level property that has already had two somewhat successful movies as well as appearances on tv (Agents of Shield) - MoKF is nowhere near that at this point. I do agree with you that the comic has been overlooked, though. I was buying MP 15, SME 15, Ms Marvel 1, MSpot 32, ASM 194 and others a few years back as a spec play. Thankfully they have popped now. That being said, I should have bought more Hulk 181s/ASM 129s/GSX 1s instead.
  9. Interesting price considering that a whole slew of CGC 9.6s sold the past few days at just $650. 2018 (31) $650Hi $382Lo Dec-04-2018 $650 Cert# 0284592003 Dec-04-2018 $650 Cert# 0284592002 Dec-04-2018 $650 Cert# 1308295014 Dec-04-2018 $650 Cert# 1308283011 Dec-03-2018 $600 Cert# 1213471013 Dec-03-2018 $599 Cert# 0118837027 Dec-03-2018 $465 Cert# 0301394003 Dec-03-2018 $650 Cert# 1308295009 Dec-03-2018 $650 Cert# 1308295008 Dec-03-2018 $650 Cert# 1308295007 Dec-03-2018 $650 Cert# 1308295003 Dec-03-2018 $650 Cert# 1308295002 Dec-03-2018 $650 Cert# 1308295017 Dec-03-2018 $650 Cert# 1308295016 Dec-02-2018 $595 Cert# 1261754015 Aug-28-2018 $550 Cert# 0352453007 Aug-08-2018 $550 Cert# 1287902020 Jul-11-2018 $555 Cert# 0219932004 Jul-05-2018 $525 Cert# 0193279009 Jun-29-2018 $525 Cert# 1254836013 Jun-15-2018 $550 Cert# 0962601004 Jun-07-2018 $510 Cert# 1027821007 Jun-04-2018 $440 Cert# 0962601002 Apr-22-2018 $382 Cert# 1294898003 Apr-17-2018 $482 Cert# 1011864001 Apr-17-2018 $400 Cert# 1206089028 Feb-27-2018 $410 Cert# 0183392005 Feb-23-2018 $475 Cert# 1472614006 Feb-20-2018 $475 Cert# 1472614003 Feb-20-2018 $459 Cert# 1231880013 Feb-18-2018 $450 Cert# 0962601005
  10. Do you have some big name artists already lined up for Calgary. Adam Hughes?
  11. Interesting. It might be worth making more effort to be there next year then............
  12. The original owner added a color copy centrefold in the 80s that I had to remove since the color copy pages were sticking together (and to the wrap next to it a bit) and CGC would not grade it. In order to do that, he replaced the staples and then added the tape along the length of the spine on top of them. I am not sure how much damage it would cause removing the tape to get at the staples, or what the cost would be to do it.
  13. And here it is. This cost the owner of the collection one of his Magnus Robot Fighter #12s at a convention in 1993. At the time the person trading for the Magnus #12 probably felt that they were the winner, but once those 15 minutes of speculative bubble was done we all know which was the better book to have.......
  14. Here is the next SA Marvel book book from that collection in August. It is a beat, restored, and incomplete Hulk #1 that the collection's owner landed in a trade for the princely sum of a Valiant Magnus Robot Fighter #12 in 1993.
  15. So far I have hit higher prices than expected on the first two of my four consignments. Hopefully this holds for next week as well.
  16. I have seen books with white out on the spine before, but not to that degree. The reglossing on this TTA 27 was bad - it is uneven and you could see brush bristle marks in some spots.
  17. There is a fairly large difference in Canadian price variant vs. US direct and newsstand editions at the top end. The last US CGC 9.8 sold for $350 while the last CDN CGC 9.8 sold for $911 (both this month). From a 9.6 perspective, it is only 50-60% premium, it is in the 20-30% range for 9.2 and 9.4, and there is no premium below that. What that November sale tells me is I sold my CGC 9.8 Canadian price variants over the past few years for way too little.
  18. Here is a frankenbook copy I picked up in August. It was raw, and I was shocked at how much amateurish restoration work had been done to the book. A lot of it seemed unnecessary, and I have never seen a book with so much noticeable resto in my time as a collector. At least it is signed by Stan Lee, I guess.
  19. Here are some recent additions to my PC from a collection in August. I was going to pick up a higher grade copy this fall regardless, but the collection had three so that is covered off now. X-Men #1 is a book I have viewed as being undervalued for a while now. Unfortunately, since it was not really moving price-wise, I decided to chase different books instead.
  20. My frankenHulk 1 should be back from CGC today. It is a C-1 0.5 due to missing centrefold, slight color touch, and replaced staples, which is what I was expecting. The book came from a collection I picked up in August, and it had some old color photocopied pages in place of the missing centrefold that stuck together. I had to remove them in order to get the book graded.
  21. Congrats! I had this come back a couple of weeks ago and have decided to keep it......................for now at least.
