  1. He jumps around from studio to studio for the best of reasons..................
  2. I thought it was a great homage to the Peter Parker/Uncle Ben killer concept. Later in the film Aquaman shows remorse when talking with Mera about creating an enemy by letting his father die. The whole film was basically showing him evolve from a drunk self-absorbed half breed into a hero.
  3. I am not sure, but I made a killing off of Saga 1 5th prints from a LCS that ordered large on it. I was buying copies of #1 5th and 2 - 6 1sts for a cover for a few months while they cleared out their stock, then flipping them quickly for $20 - $30 apiece on eBay.
  4. Exactly. We went to the 12:20 pm showing today while most of Edmonton was out at Boxing Day sales. The crowd was buzzing about how much better the movie was than they were expecting afterwards. This is a film that is going to do well and have legs like GotG and SS.
  5. From the studio's perspective, is profitability really in question? They use investors $$$ to pay for production and then charge for product placement/marketing in the film before it even hits the screen. If it does poorly, it is the investors that bankroll the production that take the loss. I guess if they spend more on marketing than they take in then it can be an issue for the studios, but otherwise it should not be an issue. They are the distribution channel and IP holder. My guess is that the financial side of most films is structured so the studios rarely take a loss even on duds.
  6. Went to see this with my son today and we both loved it. Wan was able to make Aquaman relevant, and it was a fun movie. He struck the right tone between serious and humorous moments throughout the film, and I thought the story was good as well. The CGI and underwater world that Wan developed was amazing. Hopefully they can lock him in for the sequel. We will be going again this week with my wife and daughter - this was the first super hero film since GotG that my son wants to see a second time right away so Wan did something right.
  7. Nice haul. I am not saying comic prices will drop, just that some of the companies I follow/own are hitting the must buy range again. I will just cash in profits on books I have had for a while now to convert into stocks at nice prices.
  8. I am not trying to call the bottom - I do not buying on the way down either as long as the dividend yields justify it. When I see stocks with solid financials, good growth prospects, solid cashflows (i.e. utilities, pipelines) and low payout ratios hitting 7%+, it starts to get my attention. Sell comics high, buy stocks low, and then rebuy what you want for your collection down the road. Comics are relatively easy to replace now if you have the money.
  9. Sounds good. I am not going to sell at firesale prices, though. The books have value, after all........
  10. I know. I just wanted to attract you to this thread..... I am leaning towards the same decision with my comic collection - dump off a bunch of the long term keepers to buy equities when the dust settles.
  11. The only way you can touch this from the comic side is to get AH, JSC, and Artgerm together for the show now.......
  12. Just ignore Jdog. He is like RMA - they will continue to argue a losing/incorrect position in the hopes of getting the last word in = winning.......
  13. Wow. Awesome first guest for the show, Kevin. He is going to be a huge draw with the movie still in the theatres at that time. Any chance you can get one of the cast from Avengers End Game for that weekend as well?
  14. He has a nice Batgirl cover B variant coming up as well.
  15. Little-to-no re-watch value is more likely. While I can't comment on the re-watch value since I have not seen the film yet, Ipsunburst is correct with the timing for a Christmas release. There are still enough people that buy Blu-ray/DVDs as gifts to make it worthwhile for studios will push to get movies out and in the stores for Christmas.
  16. Check out any of the dealers that have online sites. Not sure if any of them have it off hand, but it is worth a try.
  17. Do any online dealers have a copy? They may be willing to trade for the Silver Age books you have listed.
  18. I like the fact that the artists make more $$$ with their own exclusives. It is not a high paying profession to begin with, so I fully support them making money wherever they can.
  19. Good to see him get in on the action that JSC, Hughes, JTC and others have been doing for a while now. I wish more artists would do this and capitalize on their talent while they are still in high demand.
  20. I wonder if they will work Stephanie Brown/The Spoiler into the BOP film as well? Prices have come down a lot on Tec #647. It might be time to pick up a few just in case.
  21. No, it is more of a JSC can charge more since he printed less scenario........... So far he has not solicited any of the mystery boxes like last year. I guess he learned his lesson re: oversaturating the market?
