  1. Yup. They missed the boat on that one. Now that it sounds like WW will be a Cold War espionage flick that will hit theatres first, they may need to take a different approach to the storyline. Too bad as that is the solo BW film that most fans would want.
  2. I am glad to see they are moving forward on this, but MCU is about 5 years too late on the BW film. A solo flick after WS delving into her past would have been better timing. Now it seems like they are just playing catch up with Sony re: a female character team-up flick.......
  3. Based on the numbers, the more accurate statement would have been: Marvel has to relaunch new #1s every year that only works for the few thousand people who read their comics. Even the once might Star Wars franchise is in the sewers now with Vader needing a relaunch and the new #1s not generating much interest. Marvel books are nearing the unreadable point on most titles, but as I have stated before, it does not matter as the movie returns are where the real money is at.
  4. The amount people pay for these picture frames amazes me. There is definitely a dedicated collector base for them.
  5. I had Ra's ahead of Bane. I like to understand what my villains are actually saying. The whole Tom Hardy muffler was a fail as far as I am concerned.
  6. What about Maniac in the Venom Inc. storyline? Prices for the ASM variant cover are sky high already.
  7. There are plenty of undervalued books. Heck, you could even argue that Hulk #181 is undervalued at the start of each year as prices keep rising year over year. There is no need to speculate on the next movie/TV hit when there are plenty of other ways to make $$$ if that is what you are looking for.
  8. That looks like it will be an insanely funny episode.
  9. My experience selling at shows for the past 10 years is that millenials and GenXers are the ones buying the keys and the baby boomers are the ones filling runs with the cheap stuff or selling collections. Don't discount the millenials. The biggest difference is that they focus on the keys and hot covers only rather than filling runs. They are not shy about buying multiples of keys either. Most are in the early stages of their careers and do not have families yet so they have more disposable income to play with. They are also the perfect consumers in that they do not really haggle on prices. In most cases they see the sticker and if it is in their price range they just hand over the money.
  10. Yes. There was a spike in prices from 2003 - 2004 that made it very worthwhile. At the time the $USD was worth $1.40 - $1.50 CDN so I made a killing flipping books on eBay. It was fun times thanks to eBay buyer Aug002 and all the people trying to punish bid him/her on Valiants. I can remember getting $60 - $80 for VF/NM Chaos Effect Omega Golds, $100 - $150 for Chaos Effect Alpha Reds, and $50 - $100 for Unity Reds. There were plenty of VVSS issues selling for $40+ then as well. It took a while to go through the five longs of Valiant stuff I had cobbled together, and thankfully after I finished with that another small LCS received a huge pile of backstock boxes from another store that went under and it contained a ton of the Valiant incentives and pre-unity/late run issues so I could reload. In hindsight, I should have also snagged the long box of Rai #0s he had as well, but they were common as dirt back then (there was a long and a bit of Turok 1s as well ).
  11. In 1999-2001 I cleaned out all of the local stores/flea market dealers/other vendors at shows of their pre-unity/late run/gold/platinum/red/VVSS/other incentive/etc. for $0.10 - $1.00 apiece for the first couple of years, then they started asking up to $5 for some of the tougher ones. My favorite buy was a long box from one LCS at 3 for $1. I snagged 10 Harby 1s, 3 Harby 0 Pinks, a bunch of VVSSs, 10 - 20 of all pre-unity #1s, etc. The Harby #1s still had the $150 sticker prices on them. It was fun listening to the LCS owner complain about Valiant ruining the comic market while I was cleaning him out of anything worthwhile. Even into 2003 I was landing the pre-unity and late issues at shows from other dealers for $0.10 - $0.50 apiece, even Harby #1. What they did not know was awesome to profit from.
  12. The way to play the cannabis bubble was simple. Buy one of the big boys (Canopy, Aphria, Aurora, MedReleaf) and then turn a portion of the profits into some of the smaller names once they started to run up. Now the only question is how long the run up will last and sell at the peak.
  13. I am not criticizing Valiant's success. As a long time fan of the original comic line I am happy to see this forward progress. I am just not a huge fan of Vin Diesel as Bloodshot, unless the purpose is to kill him off and replace him with a younger lead at the end of the film, or better yet, have the nanite-infested blood captured/gathered at the end of the film with a chase for the "blood" background story occurring across Harbinger, X-O and EW feature films. Then you could tie it all together with a second Bloodshot film where someone new gets the blood and has to face off with/against other Valiant heroes.
  14. His numbers are skewed significantly by the strenuous task of saying "I am Groot" a handful of times. While this is nice news for Valiant to build some hype, I don't see it turning out well. His solo/clearly the lead actor films have had so-so results over the past decade or so, and more importantly he is getting up their in age. Unless the plan is to use him as Bloodshot to drive interest in the first VCU film, I am still on the fence with this. The Vin Diesel I liked as an action lead was in XXX and The Chronicles of Riddick in the early to mid 00s. I guess if they had him portray the character in one film and then kill him off to be replaced by a younger Bloodshot it could work.
  15. Is that Vin Diesel or Andrew Dice Clay with his head shaved?
  16. Not sure I am fan of this. I think Vin Diesel is about a decade (if not more) past his prime now as far as an action film lead. They need to go with someone younger that can be there for multiple films across the VCU for a longer period of time. As much as I like the Riddick movies, you could see his age starting to show in the last one.

  18. If you are going based on movie grosses, then Iron Man far eclipses Spidey from a Marvel perspective. You could also argue that Wolverine is more popular based on the X-movies + collectors keep lining up to collect Wolverine. Overall, Batman is still king across multiple platforms. Spidey has a ways to go to catch up, or even regain the heights in popularity it had when the original Sony movies came out.
  19. All they care about is that it is a GR #1..........
  20. I have been selling them at $15-20 for NM copies the past couple of years. It has been in higher demand since GR appeared on the POS, sorry AOS, tv show.
  21. That will provide an initial pop. The question is whether the movie will end up being produced/released.
