  1. maybe at about half that price , imo Maybe even less now after the result for that 4.5 is the current market barometer.
  2. Paging Tim - the speculators are back swimming in the tank!
  3. Hmm......might be time to pick a couple of copies up again.
  4. I think Hollywood's ability to change an actress' hair color is the least of the concerns. True enough, but when you are used to seeing an actress/celebrity with one hair color and they change it for a role something seems out of place. That being said, weren't there any hot brunette actresses that could have played the role instead?
  5. That is who they chose for Carol Ferris? Wow, I am out of the loop on that I guess. She is sort of an it girl right now, and not bad looking, but isn't being a brunette a pre-requisite for that role?
  6. Here is one that I finally took a pic of. Got this from Ethan a couple of years ago for a pretty decent price:
  7. According to GPA a 3.0 copy of GL #7 sold for $325 in November 2009! Anyone have a link to the auction or know what venue it was sold on?
  8. Then Mark can cover the legal fees and buy that 8.0 Tec #27 next month.
  9. Some of the GLs I have cobbled together for my run are in the Clink auction starting today as well. However, I think it would be easier to market an Action #1 or Tec #27 than all other books, AF #15 included.
  10. Oh, I am already pretty much out of the hobby as a pure collector and am just a collector-flipper now. The only two books I would ever hold onto are Action #1 and Tec #27 (and maybe a nice Tec #31), but anything else seems to leave my hands shortly after it is acquired.
  11. Thanks Ryan. I'd say it's a continuation of my exit from the hobby, although it hasn't been a smooth exit since I keep buying more stuff! Old habits die hard! Maybe more like exiting from collecting mainstream books. That's too bad, but I guess it will give some of the other HG SA DC collectors a chance at some great books. You aren't chasing that CGC 8.0 Tec #27, are you?
  12. Congrats on the sale, Tim. Are you putting the funds towards a bigger book, or is this a sign that you are exiting the hobby?
  13. Keep up the good work, Andrew, in bringing new collections out of the woodworks and onto the market. In fact, you might want to try posting some books here next time first to test the waters before taking the books to Heritage.
  14. I'm not sure a lot of collectors would agree with that assessment. I can back Tim up on that. Clink is far better at grading raw books based on my experience than Heritage.
  15. Damn, seeing this GL #7 scan again makes me regret not chasing it further. Andrew, do you have any word on how the B&B #28 graded out?
  16. I am tempted to make an offer of $20 for it to see what he says.
  17. Yeah, that one goes down as one of the worst auctions I have seen in a while. It might be a steal if someone wants to do some digging for scans/better pics. After all, it is in readable condition and will be shipped in a hard plastic case.
  18. Here is a copy of GL #7 up on eBay right now if anyone is looking: http://cgi.ebay.com/Green-Lantern-Issue-7-1960_W0QQitemZ180451031225QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item2a03b838b9
  19. It apparently sold for $1500, which is a strong price considering the following description: http://cgi.ebay.com/BRAVE-AND-BOLD-28-CGC-5-5-1st-JUSTICE-LEAGUE-of-AMERICA_W0QQitemZ180381710621QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item29ff96791d BAVE AND BOLD 28 CGC 5.5 1st JUSTICE LEAGUE The Brave and the Bold # 28 DC Comics March 1960. First appearance of The Justice League of America. Condition: CGC 5.5 FN - Light tan to off white pages ½” tear on the 13th page.
  20. An interesting bit of trivia about August Derleth, one of the founders of Arkham House, was that he was a comic collector. In this 1966 letter (image saved from eBay listing) he claimed that he owned the largest collection of comics in the world. Wikipedia says: "Derleth's papers and comic book collection (valued at a considerable sum upon his death) were donated to the Wisconsin Historical Society in Madison." If I recall correctly, there were a ton of high grade pulps sold on eBay in 1999 or 2000 that were attributed to being part of the Derleth collection. Can anyone remember this? Or, was it another noted pulp creator's collection?
  21. That is what ends up happening to all of the moderns I buy.
  22. They had a few other higher grade 10 cent Superboys. These are actually the remnants of a collection that my partner and I sold to the LCS a couple of years ago when we decided we did not have enough time to continue dealing on a larger scale. The books came from a HG OO collection that spanned the late 50s through 70s and included most, if not all, major Marvel and DC books, a complete run of Mad #1 - 150 or so, and many more mags and comics.
  23. Here are a couple that I grabbed at my LCS' Boxing Day sale:
  24. It will be interesting to see if it gets the asking price with the LT-OW LOD (LTLOD instead of PLOD now?).
