  1. Now for some nice Neal Adams books: My worst (and last) copy of Avengers #93 - I was hoping for an 8.5 Another copy of Bats #227 from the pile (I had it as 8.0 to 8.5) And another Bats #227 (I had it as 8.5 to 9.0) Batman #243 (bought this from Bob Storms as a VF+ and was curious to see if I could squeeze a 9.0 out of it - small corner crease tip top left bc) Batman #246 (bought as NM from someplace I can't recall - will call for graders' notes as I must have missed something as it looks better) Detective #412 (bought as a raw NM from Metropolis a couple of months ago (thumbs u ) And last but not least, here is another copy of GL #87 ($20 eBay purchase a couple of years ago) from the pile (to go along with the two 9.2s and the 9.4 I sold over the past 6 months )
  2. Just got these back from CGC today: TOS #65 CGC 7.5 (Resub - former PGX 7.5) Captain Savage #12 CGC 9.6 (Resub - former PGX 9.2) Captain Savage #12 CGC 9.6 (Resub - former PGX 9.4)
  3. I am too lazy to scan in the raw books (just a bunch of high grade Adams Batmans and Detectives ), but here are three new slabs: Batman #217 (Pacific Coast) Batman #251 Detective #408 (Thanks to namisgr! (thumbs u )
  4. I used to be a completist, but (like several others that have posted already) after unloading collections twice already I have found it better to stick with keys/classic covers/high demand artist issues instead. While it is nice to look at complete runs, trying to sell all of the common issues for a decent % of OSPG is difficult in anything less than NM.
  5. Don't know if I am willing to part with it yet......a bunch of my Conans and Adams Batbooks are the only things that survive from my first two collection liquidations.
  6. Here are a couple more Conan related items: and featuring the Hall of the Dead by L. Sprague De Camp and Robert E. Howard:
  7. Nice Gnome! Those are hard to find in that condition. I have always wanted to complete a set, but have not got around to it yet.....
  8. Just curious, how much do pulps w/ Conan stories in them tend to run? Depends on the issue and condition. The two I posted were in the $200-300 range. You can pick up lower grade copies for around $100. Certain covers, like some of the more risque Brundage covers or the Batgirl cover are pricey. Jeff The Weird Tales pulps are great. I used to have all of them except for the 1st appearance (Dec 32, I believe). They do not surface on eBay as often as they used to (1999 - 2001), but you can still find most of them if you keep an eye out for them. I have been out of the pulp game for a while and am not aware of any current dealers that carry a decent selection, but when back then I believe that David T. Alexander Collectibles had most of them.
  9. The current Conan series is great, but I am a bit leery about the change in creative team. IMHO, Savage Sword of Conan was the best bang for your buck in terms of entertainment value in comics. Conan is still a popular title from what I can see. When I take books to the local cons I can sell any early SSOC and Conan the Barbarian issue I take with me.
  10. Well, the first few books have arrived and I am wondering disappointed with the grade on a couple. I have them posted in the "Spare a Grade Thread" if anyone is willing to view them and give me their input. The #111 and #119 will be on the way back to the seller for a refund unfortunately . Please Grade My Flash #128,135, 139, 143 Cheers, Ryan Here are the results for the three universal books (the #139 came back as an 8.5 apparent with color touch):
  11. Three new arrivals back from CGC as of yesterday: Flash #143 CGC 9.0: Flash #135 CGC 9.0: Flash #128 CGC 9.0:
  12. I have also had to get larger purchases shipped to me at work and sneak them home a bit at a time when the addiction got out of hand!
  13. I promised the wife I am just selling slabs now and not buying, so as far as she knows I just made a good trade for these Adams Batmans (I was not really looking, but the prices really were too good to pass up on three of them):
  14. Here is the only early SA GL that I have - it is the 2nd highest graded and will be up for sale in the September Clink focused auction:
  15. The #119 is a nice copy but has bends/marks on all 4 edges from the old stacking twine they used to bundle comics. I don't know how easy it is to correct this with pressing so I would rather pass than take a chance on it. The #111 looks close enough, but there are some very light smudges at the bottom of the back cover and a longer bend along the left side of the FC that take it out of the VF range. Did you take a look at the scans I posted in the PGM thread? If yes, what would you give the books. They are all tight, flat and glossy but with one fatal flaw that drops them a bit. I paid a decent price for them but am thinking that if they are too far off my funds might be better deployed elsewhere.

  17. You really overpaid if you paid anything above 60% Guide for those particular books in those grades. Tell you what, as an act of great charity because I don`t want you to get discouraged by a bad experience, I`ll buy them from you at 2X Guide if they turn out to be in the grades advertised. Thanks for the kind offer, but I will wait until I see them before making a decision. I paid roughly 80% Guide for the group as whole (some higher, some lower) so looking at the Heritage results I guess I did not do as well as I thought.
  18. I just picked up a nice group of earlier SA Flash for below guide in grade (currently in the mail to me now): #111 VF #119 VF/NM #128 NM- #135 NM-/NM #137 VF/NM #139 VF/NM (hopefully as nice as yours) #143 NM These will be the first SA Flash I have ever owned. I have my as the only one I saw a scan of prior to buying is the #137, but I have bought from the seller before and been happy with the results.
  19. That's absolutely correct. :applause: On behalf of the Academy, I'd like to present this trophy to you as acknowledgment of your outstanding achievement. Congratulations. (thumbs u Thanks BZ! What issue is this story from?
  20. Is it Power Nelson (aka Gene West) from Prize Comics?
  21. Outstanding stuff BZ! While the GA books are amazing, I would love to see more of your pulp collection - how about nice group shots of the REH Solomon Kane and Conan issues? BTW, were all of the pulps and related material from the same original owner collection? I am curious to see how many OO pulp collections survived in high grade. I remember that there was a nice run of Weird Tales up on eBay in 1998 or 1999 that were from the personal collection of an editor (or someone affiliated with the pulp/Arkham House). Most of the pulps looked like they had never been handled and if I recall correctly there were multiples of many of them. Other than that, it has been slim pickings for true high grade material.
  22. This was waiting at home for me after work today
  23. I had this nice addition to my collection arrive fresh from CGC today:
  24. At first I was going to say don't bother as it is not at least a 9.0, but I just checked the census and the top graded copy is only 8.5, followed by 2 copies at 7.0. It might be worth rolling to dice to see how high it grades - is there any damage on the back cover?
