  1. I've always found it cool that I share the same birthday as my favorite comic character as a child! This comic was on the rack the exact day I was born! (not my book btw)
  2. Amazing covers! They look nicer now than when they were first on the comic rack!
  3. That World War 3 cover is awesome! Great comic and nice snag
  4. I've only seen one maybe two for sale in 13+ years. This is my only copy. BTW, I agree with you on the late silver/early bronze titles had the "pop" both in terms of the new logo design/size and darker color palette. Having awesome cover artists during this time didn't hurt either. Amazing comic (is there a drool emoticon?). I knew if anyone was going to have a knockout copy it would be you (Sterlingcomics, right?). Way to keep the BA horror flag flying! These books are definitely underappreciated!
  5. I'm always watching your Ebay auctions (because you're close and I hate paying customs/shipping). Incredible books and good luck with completing the run!
  6. I always loved The Unexpected, as a kid it had one of those logos that grabbed your eye on the comic rack. I've been trying to keep my eye open for a nice copy of 122 for years (my favorite cover) but never seem to have any luck.
  7. Never saw much of that nineties stuff (out of comics at the time). Looks fugly. I'm gonna have to get some.
  8. Just seeing these covers makes me want to read them. Great comics all!
  9. Great cover and splash. Makes me want to explore Venus!
  10. That Airboy is awesome and definitely rocking a cover that makes me want to read it. So, assuming you have, how long is he in the air before he realizes she is tied to the prop?!
  11. Please post any Kudos/Feedback here. Thanks!
  12. Those Georgie's have great covers. Does the #24 being a Canadian edition give it a rarity factor (i.e. more valuable)?
  13. I have all of the Gerbers and enjoy poring through their pages, but I'd love to see these visually-striking covers get the Taschen treatment with full-size reproductions collected in a book exclusively focused on Golden Age GGA (just like this thread).
  14. I'm finding it hard to tear my eyes away from all of these amazing headlight covers (the female variety - not the mechanical), and I think it's saying something in this age of sexually explicit TV and basically unlimited online porn that these images from post-war America are still so...captivating. I can only imagine what it must have been like being a teenage boy in 1948 and seeing that Corliss Archer cover high-beaming you from the comic rack! Probably why it's so hard to find any in high grade - they were all hidden under the mattress. Has there ever been a book printed that collected all of these great GGA covers? I know I'd buy a copy!
  15. I love the Cow Puncher and the Jo Jo with the side-saddle blonde. Great books!
  16. Love the U-Foes! Hoping when (if?) they make the next Hulk movie they will be the bad guys. Great comic!
  17. Good communication, fast shipping and well-packed. Thanks for the Tales to Astonish #93, Rick. Headed to read it now!
  18. Classic, and one of my favorite Galactus covers! Sweet pickup.
  19. This might make me an outcast, but I've never been a fan of signed covers. The idea of anyone (including Stan Lee) writing anything on my comic books makes me cringe. I was the same way when I collected hockey cards. When I met Gordie Howe I had him sign a Red Wings puck, not a card. Personally, I love the idea of having Stan sign (the inside cover of) any book he wrote. I have also seen comics where the signature has been at the bottom of the first page in ball point, and would be fine with that. But having a signature on the front in big, black sharpie? Maybe if it was a reader copy. Otherwise, in my eyes, it just takes something away from what would otherwise be a beautiful book. Anyways, that's my opinion. I know others love their signature series books and I'm sure whichever way you choose you will wind up with a book you treasure!
  20. I know his initial tagline was, "able to leap tall buildings in a single bound!" but I didn't realize he never flew for more than 120 issues! I actually think a Superman who can't fly sounds a lot more intriguing. Makes the power of flight for someone like Hawkman (or Mr. Mxyzptlk) that much more impressive.
  21. I almost forgot about the music! The Comicshop also had an eclectic soundtrack to it, and to this day I can be driving in my car, listening to the radio, and hear a song (I remember they used to play the White Album a lot) that immediately drags me back to those long gone treasure-filled comic bins of my youth
  22. X-Men 137! Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Storm, Wolverine and Phoenix vs. The Imperial Guard of the Shi'ar Empire on the frickin' moon?! Oh, and if the X-Men lose, Jean Grey dies! It probably didn't hurt that I was only thirteen at the time, but when I read this story it blew my mind. I bought two copies of the comic and even wrote a letter to Marvel (it didn't get printed). All these years later, for me, that story still sets the bar.
