Just one lot for this thread:

Punisher Max complete series by Jason Aaron and Steve Dillon. The complete classic run in the form of x2 TPB (Kingpin SC - Bullseye HC) and the balance of the 22 issue series in individual comics (all NM). One of the best Punisher tales ever printed. "A tour de force whirlwind of violence, crime, insanity and more violence!"

Why buy the omnibus when you can have all this for only $39 $33 shipped!

What gives you the idea that CGC is trying to reduce the volume of books that customers are submitting to them?  :screwy:

Especially when CGC is a business and like any other business, their goal is to come up with different strategies to increase both their top and bottom lines. Just take a look at all of the different scams schemes   they are coming up with and it's pretty clear that they are trying to get increased submissions from their customers, not less submissions from their customers.  (:

If they really wanted to reduce the volume of books that's heading their way, they can simply say no books accepted unless they are at least 25 years old, because seriously, anything more recent than that is probably 99.9% worthless drek from a true vintage collectible point of view.  Or they could shut down their whole pressing and CPR game as that would surely reduce the volumes of books heading their way.  So, from what they are actually doing, they are clearly trying to increase the volume of books heading their way, not to reduce it.   :takeit:   :takeit:  :flipbait:

My comment you quoted was aimed more at the previous posters who felt these changes were going to hurt CGC's business (with the balance of my post being of the opinion it wouldn't).

But based on the Law of Demand, it is hard to imagine changes like the 60% cost increase on prescreens won't, at least temporarily, reduce the number of comics being submitted for this service. However, any drop in submissions will easily be counterbalanced by the extra $3 charged (and the other sweeping price increases) making sure CGC's bottom line is the one number that does keep heading in the right direction. :flipbait:

  3. Honestly, I seriously doubt these price increases are going to reduce at all the volume of books being submitted to CGC. Comic investing (as opposed to collecting) has reached a fever pitch during the Instagram Age and for any and all investors/sellers CGC is seen as a necessary evil and I fully expect the number of comics being submitted to keep increasing exponentially.

PSA (the card grading company) has been going through similar throes. Despite hiring a ton of extra graders and literally doubling the price of grading across all tiers the flood of submissions they were receiving would not abate. One report had the company with a backlog of 9 MILLION cards waiting to be graded and PSA themselves said they had received in one three day period the same number of submissions they would previously have expected to receive in three months. The only way they were to able stop the firestorm of subs (the previously-mentioned firewall of a price increase having failed) was to essentially close their doors with a two-month freeze on any and all new submissions. This should help them chew up some of the backlog, but I bet the second they reopen they will see a tsunami of new subs.

CGC will be busier than ever.

Purchased as a lot from a boardie many years ago - The mothball smell was so bad it tainted nearby boxes.

I interleaved them with micro-chamber paper, and put them in a box with cat litter with no results. I then put them in micro-chamber trimmings for years.

Luckily, I had the Covid, so I can't smell them any more. At Jimmers direction, I threw a few dryer sheets in the box a couple weeks ago.

I probably should have thrown these books out, but I'm glad I didn't, as there are some gems in that there stinky Charlton box.

I had some mildewy westerns a few years back. I placed a tupperware container in the center of a storage tote and then stacked the comics on top of the container to elevate them, surrounded the container with a moat of baking soda and then put the lid on the tote and left the comics for a month. Cracked open the tote and the mildewy odor was gone!

It's also refreshing to see a thread where "stinky Charltons" refers to their actual odor and not the writing and art.
